Re: My 71 K5

Well talked to new body guy and he is way to expensive for my liking..... I had too much time on my hands tonite and after looking at the crappy job the 1st body guy did I got pissed off, so I tore into it. I guess I'm going to tackle the work and make sure it is done correctly. The entire passenger inner/outer rockers, front/rear pillars, front lower quarter, some front floor, lower kick panel will all need replaced. I am glad that the first guy didn't finish because I would have been even more sick if paint would have been put on over this mess. Here are a few pics of what I am dealing with.

Re: My 71 K5

This was as far as I got tonite. I have to address the issues in both pillars and take care of the bedside, but I have to have some kind of plan before I tackle more. my magnet wouldnt stick here so I put the wire wheel to it and found almost a 1/4 inch of bondo from PO on his lower patch panel seam. I think the body guy found this but didn't tell me because he knew I would have wanted it fixed. So he threw more bondo on it and primered it.

I'm sure if I keep looking at it I'll keep cutting!! But that's the easy part. I'm gaining more confidence everyday on it. I just need to get the parts here to fix it. I'm working on that now. Had to see what I needed. Looks as if I'm going to have to fix both sides! I'm going to try to work hard on in between visits to hospital.

Actually I moved out of Chicago right before my house would be worth nothing and moved about 25 miles south to New Lenox. In Chicago I lived about 2 miles from Midway airport.

Re: My 71 K5

That is too bad about what happened with the old body guy. That is one of the many reasons I do it myself, like you if I don't know how, just take it slow! Good pregoress.

The reason I ask is-- Where did you get the patches for your bed /rear wheel well? the repairs you did there look very much like the ones I will have to do.

Thanks,
jon

I haven't patched my bedfloor yet. I did buy another blazer and cut the floor up for patches then sold it. The pictures of the repaired floor you saw were from someone elses blazer.

Thanks for looking!
