Re: project 72 Custom 10
I got a little work done today, primed the cab floor and got the steering gearbox installed. I guess if you get a little done each day soon it will be finished.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Well today i painted the primer on the bottom of the cab and got the steering linkages painted. The UPS man came (a feeling that is better than christmas even thought you know whats in the box and you had to pay for it) I tore it open and inspected the parts. Found a LH cab rear floor even though i ordered a RH one. I called classic parts and he said he would send the RH one out today and to keep the other one since it was not cost effective to return it. Thats nice but i already fixed the LH side.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Got a little work done today, but everything was fighting me. I also had the windshield in my suburban replaced, man that guy was fast. Today i installed some front brake lines, bent them myself. I put the steering linkage in just need to install the pitman arm. I put the engine in the frame, just as every time the old style motor mounts are a PITA, must of took an hour to get both bolts started. I also sprayed the cab bottom with a little rubber undercoating.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Well today i got some work done, finished installing the pitman arm for the steering. Put in a couple of clamps for the brake lines. The fedex man arrived and brought me a big box full of wonderous body parts, yeah.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
I cut off some of the old rusted panels, i am still waiting on the floor edge to start the install. I then started on the rot above the windshield and the drivers door.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Let the fun begin Or in reality...let the work begin. Nice to get new parts but it's more fun when it's things like grilles or bumpers...these new parts just mean added fitting/cutting/welding/grinding

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Well UPS came again today, but I got another LH cab patch instead of the RH, so once again CP is sending me another one. I got the brake hoses and installed them and worked a little on another cab patch i had to make.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Today i worked on the rusted metal above the windshield. The new panel was made for the 67-71 style mirror, so i cut it out to make it flat. I got the whole piece tacked in.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Well my RH floor edge finally came in, only took 3 tries. I flipped the cab back on the stand and started working on the floor. I tacked in lower rear pillar and will try to get the edge in tomorrow.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Today I started fitting the rear floor piece, i just put a couple of sheet metal screws to make sure it is lined up before i weld it. I got the front cab support on and tacked in a couple of spots.

Re: project 72 Custom 10
Today i made a patch for the front floor panel and put the floor panel on. Got the rear support tacked and made a patch for the back of the cab. I fitted the cab corner, worst fitting part that i have ever used sherman brand, there floor supports were decent but the cab corner was terrible. I took me an couple of hours just to get the gap even with the door. I guess it would be easier if i wasent rebuilding everything.
