Re: Polishing a Turd!
Thats the best looking "turd" I have seen in a long time. Now go get a new headlight for it. That dark one makes it look like its has a black eye.

Re: Polishing a Turd!
Painting the bezels black just makes it look like they are not there. It looks like parts are missing. It might work if there was more black in the grill, but not by themselves.
Just my opinion... Slonaker |

Re: Polishing a Turd!
As it's been said before, that is one good looking truck. If you get bored and want to help polish a turd I know of one you could work your magic on.

Re: Polishing a Turd!
You've done a fantastic job on that "turd"! I like the silver headlight bezels if your takeing votes..... If you want another idea; 1983 had headlight bezels with trim in the center that matched the grill. Look around for some pics. You could black out that trim, and have a full black line across. I think it was factory like that? David

Re: Polishing a Turd!
Thanks guys.
I've decided I'm going to keep the black bezels...for now. Had to replace the Lower A-arm today because a few days after I got the truck I put it in a ditch trying to turn into my neighborhood. We had a freak rainstorm come up, and with limo tint/bad headlamps/no defroster working, my windows fogged up and I couldnt see. Put the truck in a ditch hot a culvert, sheared a mounting bracket off for the sway bar and really messed up the a-arm so that the wheel sat crooked. Fixed that today. The next mod I'm going to do is beef up the exhaust. It has headers with 3" collectors, and then it steps down to a 1 3/4" pipe, then flows into a glasspack muffler and turns down before the rear end. It does this on both sides; true duals. I thought about going dual 3" from the headers like my '01 but think I'll stick with 2.5" and some nice flowmaster mufflers. That should let her breath better, those pipes are tiny. Re: Polishing a Turd!
yeah i have hooker headers with a 2.5" collector that goes down to a 2.25" pipe to some resonator mufflers and then steps down to 2" tailpipes straight out the back. i have wondered if my truck was choking because of exhuast flow, but its nothing really special under the hood and i heard a little back pressure was good. i think yours is definately too small though. i do wonder if changing mine tow 2.5" all the way would it be worth the gain, or if the lack of bacpressure would hurt me.

Re: Polishing a Turd!
Well 2.5" is not too big....I think dual 3" would be too big though. I have some big nice stainless headers on my '01 with 3" duals and no cats and it loves it....
This motor is a 350 with ported and polished heads and aluminum intake, agressive roller cam, roller rockers and lifters, worked over Q-jet (dad could always make em sing)....serpintine belt system, 1" riser and so on. Its pretty powerful but the gearing and smaller exhaust hold it back, and probably the torque converter.... I dont see how 2.5" would hurt ya any. |
