Re: young people with old trucks

21 here, first chevy ive owned, i got to say ive always like the dated vehicles IMO, had a 05 jeep(piece of crapola) and still own my 89 toy "truck". ive always driven the least optioned models and loved every minute of them cause there more mechanical than electrical. first vehicle ever learnt to drive was a sears suburban tractor. never looked back

Re: young people with old trucks

I'm 26 (getting less "young" by the day) and I've had my '70 for three years now, but it's been in my immediate family since '95. Before that it was my grandparents' neighbors' rig (bought it new locally) and then my dad's, and then he gave it to me.

I have newer cars and they are my DDs, but I do love driving the Chevy. It drives so nicely, if it was just a little better on fuel and I felt like putting a lot of miles on it, I could easily make it my daily driver.

I'm a 27 year old guy in a 67 year old body. I have worked on cars and trucks since I was 15. I slowed down on the builds for a long time when I was working two jobs. I finally got to retire and after the wife and I got the house built I started back to work on the cars and trucks. All of my friends that are my age are selling all of their stuff and sitting in front of the TV, and I'm just gettin' all fired up again… My friends (and wife) just shake their heads and walk away…

Turn 26 tomorrow, been messing with these trucks since I was 15. I have always enjoyed driving older vehicles. These were some of the projects.

Turned 20 this past month, here's my baby:

My community used to be farm country but all my life it's turned into the suburbs for rich, stuck-up attorney-types, whose kids have no interest in cars past heated seats and massive stereos. There are a few of us left, though.

Re: young people with old trucks

I am 25 and dont really consider myself that young anymore but compared to most people into vehicles like these I suppose I am still young. I got a 1970 CST-10 that I love, makes my friends all drool. Granted I also have an 09 Silverado that is my daily driver.

Re: young people with old trucks

26 here, although Im young in many peoples eyes, I don't feel young anymore. I've always been into muscle, but it was new muscle(ex. z28, vette, T/A). All the newer Ls1 stuff.

Since I got my truck a little over a year ago, I've been having fun driving that old tin around.....I get more compliments and conversations on that old truck than any other vehicle I have owned or ridden in.

It's definitely a blast from the past, because that truck is way ahead of my time, and they just dont make em like they use to.

My first car was a 75 Nova as well. I didn't know anyone else would admit to driving a car that ugly. It has grown on me over the years.

I'm only 28, but I still have the Nova, after i quit DDing it I bought a 96 S10 and went through my lowrider phase. Then I got wise and sold the S10 to buy a 96 Impala SS, which I still have, then I picked up a 65 Impala 4dr hardtop for a project, which I still have. Then I picked up a 71 Toyota FJ40 for a trail rig, but I sold it to buy my 72 Suburban to use as a family hauler. My current DD is a 96 C1500. I've never owned a car newer than 96.

I love fuel injection, but I love the curves and contours of old iron more.

Re: young people with old trucks

26 here and still feel like a kid.

My dad was always buying and selling trucks when I was growing up. He had about 7 67-72 k10 trucks and 4 69-72 Blazers. They were always my favorites. The only vehicle I asked him to save was a cherry 72 Land Cruiser with a 350 and a 4 inch lift. But he sold it and as "they say life goes on."

I have bought and sold way to many trucks but I have kept my 69 Blazer since I bought it off my old man when I was 16.

Re: young people with old trucks

Im 23 and have had way more trucks than i should have with all of them being pre-84 with exception of a 05,06,and my now DD 07 3500 Cummins powered ram. I bought my first truck a 71 c30 dumpbody when I was 13 and learned on my own..and the rest is history. the 68 Im building now and my 84 c30 are my babies. it's the same here too..ricers, ricers, and more ricers with an occasional (nicely done) mustang thrown in. There are almost zero bagged trucks around which stinks cuz I love to go cruisin in a pack. But then again, I did build somethin that nobody else had. Anyways keep turnin those wrenches young guys and keep learnin.

I'm 18 now but I started on this truck when I was 15 and finished it when i was 17. My dad had owned it since he was about 20 so its been in the family for awhile. I just recently got the 55' for free and I've been working on that so it can be my DD.
