Re: Why did they only make these 6 years?

If they made a retro truck like one of these an put a dmax allison combo in it me and my father would be both going to get new trucks as soon as they came out . Best trucks ever.

Keith: a well written explanation.

How true as I'll immediately spot a 67-72 either Ford (no flaming please) or Chevy whereas the current models go unnoticed.

Re: Why did they only make these 6 years?

I definitely get more compliments on my old iron than my new. I love driving all three trucks, all for different reasons.
If they were to produce a "retro" version of the 67-72 body style that was close to the look and feel of these trucks I would be takin' the F150 down to the local Chevy dealer faster than you can say "Trade In"

Re: Why did they only make these 6 years?

Thanks all for your insights. It seems the main take away for me is that this body style was produced for a normal time frame and that the 73-87 was the exception.

Re: Why did they only make these 6 years?

Yeah, that was an amazingly long run.i bought a '90 blazer because i thought it was so cool to be able to buy something new that looked like it could be from '73,except the very front.i even ran the duals like back then and used finned aluminum wheels to give lend to the retro look. That's what I like about Harleys. They change vehicle styles to keep selling new vehicles. But,ironically, the ones that change the least the most popular...Jeeps,Harleys,Vettes,and trucks.

Re: Why did they only make these 6 years?

47-54 = 8 Years
55-59 = 5 Years
60-66 = 6 Years
67-72 = 6 Years
73-80 = 8 Years
81-87 = 7 Years
88-98 = 10 Years
99-06 = 8 Years
07-?? = 4 Years (to date)

No real rhyme or reason from what I can tell. Just depends on how long it took them to finish development of new platforms and such.
