It loooks pretty rough, I would stay away from it. Heck, there is even rust on the steering wheel. If you look at the front edge of the hood, it looks like there is rust there and, if there is that much rust on the top of the inner fenders, I can just imagine what the bottoms and rad support looks like.

There are quite a few trucks out there these days... You should be able to find something better than that for the money.

Tell him to get you some pictures from under the truck, bottom of the doors, etc. Then you will really know whats going on. If he won't do it, then I would guarantee he is trying to pull a fast one. I agree that it seems high, and everything is rusted out where I live.

Looks like a project truck and interest was lost, prob trying to get money invested back out of it. It's a shame but if I could get someone to buy my truck for what I have invested I could probably buy 2 more and start over. For the money wanted he would be better off parting it out. Just my 2 cents.

Can't say for sure , but there was a 67 south of memphis about 2 months ago , same colors , same rusty steering wheel , same fender badges , 5 bolt , tailpipes , I had a picture of the roof on inside that wasn't real pleasing , 68 fenders filled in. Did a 15 hour drive to look at it , but found a 68 that was better for $800. before I got there.Good luck

not enough truck for the money, A 4k truck shouldnt be that crusty and rusted.

There is a SWB 67 small window truck around my area if your still looking. Laser straight body, no dents, no nothing. I think the guy is asking 5500.

I can't help piling on here. I never, never want to say anything bad about anyone's truck. But when one's put up for sale, and a prospective buyer asks, then I feel compelled.

That truck would be worth that asking price, and more, if any of the two of these items together were true:

1) The owner was a very, very rich father of an ugly girl looking for a husband;
2) You climbed under the bed and found a plastic box full of bearer bonds totaling no less than $86,500;
3) The rust shown was all there was. And it was placed on there as a patina. Just for show. Not really rust. Just an "effect" as in "distressed" furniture. Or, like on one of those Fender Strats they sell
for more money than they are worth after they beat them up with a chain;
4) With the title, you get a seven-year supply of all the steel wool, sand paper, grinding disks, and hand cream you and any folks that used to be your friends can use;
5) You get lifetime passes for 32 tickets (with back stage passes) to every Eagles concert that was ever, or will be given in the future;
6) You have lots of money and love the truck;
7) You want to do something nice for the present owner.

Naturally, I say all this in jest. Sort of.

I'm in the middle of a build right now. It's a money pit.

As for me, if I fall on too many "surprises" in a week, I have to bury my head and crawl into my jammies for a few days....
But you should benefit from my experience. I'm up to about $14k now and I could probably get about $3k
if I wanted to sell to someone who had "vision". (Translation: "Has the same disease most of us have")

Maybe you're different. That is, of course, unless you have a ton of dough that you don't want.
And, in that case......er, well, never mind!!!

Guys, I think you are missing the sellers marketing piont: 98% of the rust is included for free! The 2% that is in the gas tank that's going to end up clogging the carb at the most inopportune time is whats gonna cost you!

Eh, I would walk away if you can't get it for under $2k... and even at that I would be nervous.

Mine needed a lot of work (still does) - but I paid $600 for it- I KNOW you can find a NICE truck for $3600 if that's what you're willing to spend- and the truck you showed us isnt nice...

i bought a 1970 CST a few weeks ago and the truck originally came from nevada and the guy that bought it, kept it in the garage for five years! the SPID shows 396 cu. in.(had a 350 w/ muncie 4 psd) and has the original black paint, the hood and left fender have been replaced w/ original steel and the cab IS RUST FREE, i paid 4,000 and drove it home!!!

I'm in Missouri myself and here is the 72 I picked up for $3800. The 72 has a/c, tilt wheel, factory tach, disc brakes, so I think you can do better. I saw a pretty good 72 on craigslist in St. Louis that was primed but everything had to be put back on. I would shop around if I were you.

I think you made a wise choice my friend. I think you would definetly had buyers remorse after digging into that thing for the kind of money the seller was asking for.

wow I just looked at a pic of a 71-72 short step and the guy was saying he had an offer for 600 and it looked pretty solid to me. It was also lowered.
I paid 500 For mine with 98K original miles. The guy just wanted it gone. It was in the same family since it was new.

that looks like a real solid truck the other reason i didn't buy it cause i already have this one and the wife is saying (don't u need to finish one before u start one) LMAO!!! hope the wifes know our trucks will never be done

Looks like maybe he wants to get out of it what he has put into it since he bought it. I agree with the above, that there are too many red flags, just waving to get your attention. Also so his response to you that he "has another buyer", says smoke screen to me. Let the other buyer have it. When he does call you back let him know that you put in the research to repair all the problems and that it isn't worth his asking price.
There's lots of trucks out there, so don't go buying someone else' cobble job. Cnut

Dude! that is a nice lookin' truck. Yup my wife says she doesn't want anymore trucks in the drive. But i have a 66 short bed desert frame i am going to build until i find a nice body. I may have to have this one driving before she lets me do that though. But yeah it will never be done.
