Let me correct myself. I just looked and you sure did mention it's a GMC.I guess I didn't read so thoroughly.

The later GMC K2500s (once automatics were introduced in '70) came with 3.54:1 Dana60s. That's a real good gear if you don't go too big with tires, like 35"+. Your truck is the GMC equivalent to a CST, so the seat was part of the package in '67. I don't think very many K2500 Super Customs were built in '67 and fewer would have V8s. You've got a real gem there. it's funny, they don't have any Super Custom emblems, just the unique fender badges that say "Custom".

Re: How to figure out what I have ?

I got to agree with the reply about the front spacer blocks on the front, their a bad idea and not too safe, lots of side and front to back stresses placed on them and if the u bolt comes loose or cracks under the stress they can pop out and cause a crash. Your front springs look stock, i would recomend ether pulling the front blocks and or replacing the springs pitman arm and shocks with a kit from ether Tough Country or Skyjacker Soft Ride.

Re: How to figure out what I have ?

The drivetrain is cool if you plan on a orginal restoration. Since the Dana 60 is under the rear, and not the HO rear, swap it out! lol. Depending on your intentions for this truck, a Disc braked open knuckle Dana 44 up front or a 60 would improve turning radius and braking capability. The SM420 is highly sought after with the Jeep guys with CJ5/flat fender guys. They are compact for the short wheel base and offer a 7.05 first gear! Thats the lowest first gear availible, I think? The T221 could be replaced with a stout NP205, or some of the later NP208/NP241 combos, which the last two are chain driven, but light weight aluminum cases. The NP205 is stout so is a Atlas Transfer Case. You could swap a 14 bolt rear, disc brake up grades are cheap as are Detriot lockers. The steering is where Im puzzled, most pre-69 GM used a odd steering box, there fore no provisions for a common Saginaw box. When I say this I mean the frame does not raise out away from the the frame at the the steering box mounting area, my 68 4x4 was this way. All the other stuff above I mentioned above about the drivetrain depends on what you want to do with the truck? It is a cool looking truck!!

Re: How to figure out what I have ?

On a GMC the second digit in the vin is the engine code. s=l6, m=v6, e=v8.

I thought all super customs had padded door panels and carpet. I have a 67 super custom and it does. The door panels have horizontal pleats in them and they are not reproduced. But this could have been removed from this truck at any time. Back then these trucks could have been ordered any way you wanted. The main thing is the seat and the horn button. Either way it is a great truck, you dont see 67 super customs every day.

Re: How to figure out what I have ?

The intake on the engine is original style but the alternator should be on the driver side and the power steering box is newer than 72... my guess is that it had a straight 6 back in the day or a 327 but it's been swapped... just a guess until you pull the numbers from the block, behind your alternator in front of the head.

nice find. I'd buy new 4" lift springs for the front and run it for now...

Re: How to figure out what I have ?

Hey,I spy an Armstrong Norseman for a spare! That's some vintage off road equipment there.

I think the door panels were exchanged. They should be the same color as the cluster and glovebox. That's not a factory mat or shifter boot.
