why not a 327 or 283

Well, because I have one with a 327, Two with 350's & two with 454's. I think that is enough V-8's, I love drivin' my six banger. I'm sure the 5 speed OD tranny helps though...

Well its all going to start by installing some Moroso trick front springs. Then a big box from Porter built. Fallowed by relocating the battery.

Where are you relocating the battery to? Me, I took the heater box off the firewall. After shaving the firewall smooth, the battery will then have a new home. In place of the batteries original location, I have a long stainless overfill bottle to install.

I plan on coming home from this deployment and "finishing" my truck. Hopefully I will have all the parts ready to go at the end of this tour.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

For the 67 3/4 ton 4x4, I've got to find a rear leaf spring hanger and shackle. Get the door to close right, install gas tank, and drive the wheels off of it.
The 68 panel wagon needs some brake work and fix the rear lights.

I bet it looks nice and clean. I'm all about clean looking engine bay.

Being that I'm on the west coast and have all 4 seasons I still run my heater box. I'm going to build or buy a stainless steal box and mount it on the frame rail as far back as I can for the best weight transfer.

As things are done, I'll be sure to take pics and post them of my 2011 progress. S/S Box and on the frame will be nice.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72

My 72 has been patiently awaiting paint so that is the task for 2011. My 67 will continue to sit in the corner of the shop and slowly collect parts in the cab until I am ready to tear into that one.

Change the front clip on my blazer. I prefer the 68 clip.
Finish the suspension, drivetrain and body on my shortbox. Then drive the wheels off of them both
