Het brothers69c-10 I just noticed your sig. We used to have a '90 Probe GT too, those are fun little cars! I still have a full set of ground effects and a 82000 mile motor for one of those.

Myself- Yeah its been a great little car. It used to be my x girlfriends, her folks gave it to me when they bought her a new car since i had done some work on it. When i first got it the turbo was froze and that thing would barely do 65 on the interstate. Fixed the turbo and man is that thing a rocket. What color are the ground effects?

Also just found out last night that my brother is headed to Fort Dodge for the 3rd time in 3 weeks to get a bunch of new sheetmetal to use instead of the used front clip we already purchased. I will have pics up today ortomorrow of the progress.

wish i woulda por15'd my frame but i left the cab and front clip on mine when i did the swap...

Ryan- the only wrinkling i have found on the frame is within 4 inches from the front of the frame and i think thats from when he hit the tree I still need to cross measure it to make sure.

Chevy2racr- yeah dad and i really didn't want to tear it down that far, but we're doing some body work to it and repainting it, besides the hole front end needed rebuilt so while it was apart my brother got a wild hair to sandblast and paint the frame and i think he's going to por15 the underside of the cab.

My brother cleaned up the underside of his cab and por 15'd the underside. He also got all the body parts picked up last weekend. He got 2 front fenders, a hood, 2 inner fenderwells, radiator support, chrome bumper, cowl, and grill for $250. All of it is brand new sheet metal never been on a truck. The grill he got is for a 92 so a little different than the 93 grill he's not sure yet which one he wants to use or which hood cause we have a supper nice used GM hood sitting in the shed. I need to put a passenger side rocker panel in it and will probably have to replace that cab corner at the same time then all the rust from the cab forward will be fixed. Next step will be getting the frame cleaned up and getting the front suspension put back on it so we can start putting the motor and that back in.

Looks like a fun project. I did a 5.3L/4L65e swap into my '93 S-10 a few years ago. Fun little trucks. I also had a couple small block S-10's and I prefer the fuel injection over carbs.

Haven"t done much lately. My brother decided to by another truck, so that tied up money for a little bit. Got the frame sandblasted last week, and my dad and brother started por-15'ing it. Gonna order the rest of the front end parts the end of this week and probably put it together the first weekend of april when i'm home. Then try and get the cab back on the frame and new brake lines and gas lines ran with any luck. Then we can finally start putting the motor in it i hope by the first of may.

Ok so now I need to find a 4.3 v6 power steering pump bracket. The old man kinda broke the one we had taking it off the motor. Any ideas where to find one? I really don't want to have to go to the pull it yourself yard , cause power steering pulleys are a pain in the a**

I went to Car Country in Newton I know u said you didnt wanna goto the pull ur part yard but I got my complete brackets, pulleys, and ps pump off a 96 or so blazer for like $50 otherwise just call sams or somewhere else in DM and ask them about just the bracket for the ps pump bracket. but might prove easier to upgrade to a newer style serp. setup and get it all as one. any 4.3 or sbc 96 to atleast 98 or 99 and 4.3s in the new style blazers 96+ are the same

also that came with the ps pump tall fill tube so you the fill cap is right up top.. kinda handy!

alright may check into that, thining about just using the setup i have now though, kinda trying to keep the budget down, t ospend money on other areas of the truck. I would do the pull apart yard myself, but i don't have the pulley puller for the power steering and you have to ge it off in order to get the bracket off the motor. Plus with as old as these trucks are getting, I'm sure those pulleys don't come off very easy lol

I got mine off without removing the pump i thought either that or i could remove the pump without removing the pulley. dont recall for sure maybe bolted through the holes in the pulley... thats how most newer stuff is

Yeah in the case of the 93 there is no holes in the pulley and two of the bolts for the pump are behind the pulley and its either one or two bolts for the braket are hidden behind the pulley too. Terrible design on GM's part

you por-15ed over nice sandblasted metal? you do know that it will not last like that right? The purpose of it is to bond over the top of RUST and encapsulate it from air so that it cant get any worse.

My body guy who's benn doing body work forever does exactly what i did with the por 15 on lots of vehicles. The object is to use it as a base coat or leave alone. It doesn't flake or scratch. The only drawback is that it fades in the sun. Lots of guys use por 15 on sandblasted frames and such. It adheres better to the clean metal rather than having to prep flaking paint and lose rust. And yes it does stop rust, the object is to encapsulate the metal to prevent it from rusting. Even though something is sandblasted and there appears to be no rust, its still able to rust even if you paint it.
