Re: tall skinny meaty tires post em up

Living in the snow (and rust) belt.
Pizza Cutters are the way to go.... I have run 235-85-16 on every 3/4 ton ive owned.
the 68 is getting 36x12.5x16.5 tires (OE tires from the HumVee) before they went to 37 radials
I dig the look of the 255-85-16 on the M1008 above...
I shoulda looked for some for my 73 but for now ill "suffer" with the 35x12.5x15's

Re: tall skinny meaty tires post em up

Some 16's (235 85 16) on our '61 and a 8-17.5 as a spare. Would you guys assume the 17.5 is the original wheel for this truck?

Sorry; I was looking for tires for someone else and found these then saw this thread. We're looking at the Fedima Trekker.

Here's the link- http://www.kingoffroad.co.uk/ortyres.html

Re: tall skinny meaty tires post em up

Simex must be part of the same company as Fedima. This one is called a Simex Extreme Trekker II (Centipede) and looks nearly identical. There are differences but they are very close.

Here is another link for a lot of tires. Click on the "All Terrain, Street, Mud Terrain, Extreme Terrain" ect tabs near the top right and new pages of more tires come up. Plus it has a full tire size, gear, mph + other calculators there too. LOTS to look at!

I'd assume we'd have to pay through two noses...

You can buy them, you just have to figure out the currency difference plus the shipping.

Also not sure if they are DOT legal here in the states, I'd have to look. I've ran non DOT on the road a few times on different vehicles, never had a problem.

Sadly, they aren't DOT marked.

Re: tall skinny meaty tires post em up

I've got the BFG mud tires(not in the picture) in a 255 -85 r16 and they are great! I run them on steel rims and I have really put them to the test the last two hunting trips. They were a lot of drivers that wouldn't go where we went ( good for us). About 16" of mud, snow and water. They ate right through and I never had to use the winch!

Re: tall skinny meaty tires post em up

Once I get my '85 Jimmy lifted on 8-lug axles I want to go with 255/85 mud tires. I have a new set of stock 16" wheels I bought years ago to use on a Cheyenne Super I never restored. For now it'll run 12.50/35 MTRs but those will become my flotation set once I get the others. The Jimmy is 100% stock and stone simple now with stock wheels/hub caps/235/75-15s now and I just want it beefy stock looking.

These are 235/85r16 Mud Star 10 ply tires. They arent the best wearing tires, but they do real good out on the old muddy dozer roads I have to drive on.
