Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

First of all,I apologize if you feel I pee'd on your thread. You never mentioned there was a second road that showed more than just a roof.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm saying it's sad to see when morality heads in this direction. I fundamentally disagree with the privacy invading Google Street Scape and all that,BTW. Would it not bother you to see someone stop in front of your house and start snapping pictures of your stuff? Looking is one thing and taking pictures to show on the world wide web is another. That much privacy fencing costs thousands of dollars. Are we required to do this to keep our stuff from being shown to people all around the world?
It's not my intention to pee on your or anyone else's threads. My intention is to hopefully give enough perspective to make one think beyond making a post and consider other's rights to privacy, first. I think you should have waited until you met the person and made the judgement whether or not to post this once you met them. Or,better yet, asked their permission.

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

So don't drive by a junk yard with out a fence, and don't take any pictures. I guess when I see vehicles rotting in a yard and I snap a pic, I'm invading their privacy too. Oh well, sure beats being shot at. I didn't see anywhere yesterday in this thread where the OP gave an address so I can't see the big deal. If anyone else wanted to find this place they would have to drive all over Az to find it or contact this poster. Now if he walks on to his property and starts looking around and snooping, that would be a whole other issue. I'm sure my junk gets photographed and oogooled all the time from the road. I hear about it from different UPS and FedEx guys. What can you do? I guess if I want no one to see it I would have to build a building and put it away, or put up a fence. I'm not that worried about it yet.

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

Special K i respect you as a senior member and have read numerous amounts of your post. However I am a reasonable person and understand levels of some ones privacy. If you remember the pics they are from inside the cab of a pick up truck on the road. there aren't any unique identifiers that would indicate the location of the residence except cactus and trees which are located through out Arizona. No photos of the houses on the street, license plates, or people. And yes fences are expensive, but so are the blinds i use in my house, the firearms i own, the door on my garage, and the clothes i wear. all these are to conceal, cover, and protect something important to me based on level of importance. I am a grown man and would never walk on someone elses property with out permission or just cause. Im not some tweeker rolling around rifling through peoples property like a un-respectful nomad. to assume that I would be so neglectful that it causes you to hand down a lecture to me like a child learning what morals are. You drive on public roads with cameras watching you. <--- expectation of privacy.
This forum is to deal with our passion for these trucks. You look at post and comment appropriately. ex.... that c20 camper looks bad ass next to the cactus.. K done with my hate rant.

Unfortunatly (Law Wise) theres nothing wrong with taking a picture of someoners yard, Car, House if its from the Street or sidewalk.

I saw some guy driving by and taking pictures while I had my garage door open. Ran to my car and followed him.
Called the Police and gave them the Desription/License plate. They told mee to stop following him, and that there wasa nothing they could do about it.
You may not like it, but as long as you keep to your side of his property line.........

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

Yep, I smell pee. I saw the pictures wwotr, taken from the cab, from the road, nothing worse or better than other "Look what I found" posts that I have seen probably what?, once a week on this board since I joined? Opinions noted but if he didn't want it photographed Im sure he would have done something to hide it, no not fences, but maybe a tarp? When I have ever seen someone taking a picture of my house, one of my cars or trucks, or ever approached me to talk about my truck, it has never once made me feel like hey! you are invading my privacy!, No it's cool! I actually own something that other people like! C'mon, lighten up! Stop watching all those conspiracy theory shows. I personally want to thank you, justtime- keep the pictures coming man! If you are afraid of the Privacy Police, do me a favor and send pictures directly to me. We here in the midwest enjoy living vicariously through you lucky souls in the southwest. Hey, is that a Chem-trail I see in the sky?

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

I refreshed 3 times thinking to myself, "Why can't I see the pics!?" Now I know. If the pics were taken from the roadway, you're not breaking any laws. Put 'em back up! lol. I don't see what people's problem is with google maps, or pictures taken of your stuff.... People see it everyday, so what? If it was the inside of your house, that would be one thing, but it's not. DID SOMEBODY CALL!?

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

This thread represents the differences in living in different areas of the country. When I lived in NY, if someone would had taken a picture of my stuff. They would had been in a world of crap. Thats called casing property, and not the smartest thing to do. In NC people take pictures of everything.. junk on a public right of way, old trucks parked to die on farms, barns falling down, houses that intrigue etc. They are posted all over the internet, all you have to do is look on google images.

I see both sides of this and remain on the fence about it. I have never ever thought it was ok to take pics of inside someones garage or items owned etc.. but I have never had an issue with someone taking a picture of an old home, barn, landscape etc...

What I am trying to say is, things are different from region to region.. instead of fighting about who can take pics where, move along and get on to the next subject. This one is like watching a train wreck unfold.

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

EDIT: I started typing this before Liz posted. I think it's run it's course.

I thought I was done with this, but feel a need to clarify...
Like I said,I'm sorry this screwed up the thread. I have a difference of opinion from many,I guess. I think all my property is sacred, not just what I hide inside. It has to do with the proximity to the house. Out in a field, off on it's own,or out in public is a different story. I was brought up honoring common respect of property. I am just saying, and already did,I would have talked to the person first. I have shown pictures of other people's trucks at their homes and I asked permission and let them know my innocent intent. There's a mint '68 Panel at a Funeral Home near me. It rarely sits outside. One day I saw it was out, turned around, stopped inside, talked to the owner about it (I got the whole very interesting history),asked permission to take pictures, told him my intentions with them, and showed them to you all. That's just how I roll. And,I got more than just pictures. I have snapped pictures in parking lots and always feel funny about how the owner might feel if they saw me. A junk yard is a completely different story. The owners don't want you to drive by. They want you to stop, walk around, and buy the stuff you see from the road. I have stuff you can see from the road and I enjoy it when people stop and knock on my door to talk, look, ask if any is for sale,or whatever. I've made friends that way. When I want to sell a truck I pull it out to the road and put a sign on it. That is saying you can stop and look at this one,but the rest is back there for a reason. If I put the sign on one back with the rest I should expect people to comb over everything I have outside.
I may have implied the pictures shouldn't have been taken and you know that's how I feel. But,I just said it would make me mad if someone did that to me and I think it would have been proper to speak to the owner first.

Re: Looky What I Found!!!!!!!!

The pics aren't against the law, I took them down out of respect for special k.
I have seen pics of what people found showing houses and other cars in the drive ways, I took the pics of the trucks to show every one else on the forum, The lesson learned here is when you start a look what i found thread.... dont provide a narrative explaining it.

Justtime are you still going to contact the owner and try to get the story with these trucks? I saw the pics and it is certainly interesting. If you do please post what he says.

By what the pics loooked like, it looks like the owner needs to be on this board anyway. He could benefit from it in one way or another.

Actually this is interesting, because toiday I was gonna take my Video Camera, down to the Shop that's doing work on my Truck, so I could post it on You Tube.
I'm VERY excited about the work being done to my Truck and the Caliber of people who work there and the shop in General.
I DO intend (when I get down therte though), to ask the Owner if he minds me takingh some Video to put up on You Tube, BEFORE I begin shootring.
