Re: WEIAND vs. Edelbrock intake?

I'd love to see back to back dyno testing of the performer, EPS, RPM, and then the weiand examples. Seeing as the performer RPM is rated to work from 1500rpm and I don't know anyone really concerned with power at less then 1500rpm is there really a reason for the non-RPM version? As for quality Edelbrock never disappoints.

I think the below 1500 concern is for city driving, mountainous terrain, launching boats, gravel roads, heavy traffic, hauling stuff etc. (You know, truck stuff) The lower rpm band manifolds also build their "peak" at a lower range which often times lands in the sweet spot for getting stuff done.

The problem is most carb'd small block trucks have a non-lockup automatic trans behind them and every oem convertor will stall over 1500rpm, meaning you never actually see the lower rpm.
Besides, truck stuff means big loads, meaning you need more power then idle rpm to get moving
My question was because many years back a mag did test a performer vs RPM in a low/stock HP setup and the RPM made more torque even below 2000rpm. I'd love to see the test on a less mild build.

anybody ever come across a dyno comparison between the RPM and the Air Gap?

Re: WEIAND vs. Edelbrock intake?

I wonder if a stock manifold makes the best power for a stock motor. Could it be that Chevy knew what was best for their own motors even back in the day??

No and yes. Did chevy know whats best? They sure do. Do government regs like emissions allow the use of those best parts? No way in hell.
