the one they sold me looks similar to that. but if im not mistaken, it has only one prong on the back.

when i was looking under distributor, i saw something that came off block. tried to get to it, but not much access. i managed to pull off a rubber plug thing that had one wire off the top of it. and think thats the thing i need to change.
right now i dont remember what it looked like.
not sure, kinda hard to see, and hard to get to.

i was wondering if i need to take things off to get to this part.

if the sending unit is bad, would that be why my guage reads low? and sometimes dont read?

hopefully wed i can figure how to get to it. or get the one in there off to match it up.
if im lucky i wont have to take too much off but who knows.
i know that for the part they sold me. the 6 dollar unit. ill need to buy a big socket.
if its the wrong part, then ill have to see how to get old one off.

in the pics the part looks accessable. not so in my truck. tight fit. and my truck has a bunch of stuff in the bay.

sooner or later id like to figure out what i need and dont need so i can clean it up a bit and get rid of the junk that i dont reallly need

my 82 had a 350 in it. but was alot cleaner in the bay than the 85.

thanks again for help here fellas.

The other one is for a dummy light and choke heater switch.
I also think the same thing that this one is for a gauge and the other for a dummy light atleast on that year of truck anyways. If yours does not have this style in it then the gauge will not read right
