on a quick side note, does anyone know what the handle bolted to the floor next to the seat on the driver side is as shown in the 4th picture from the bottom? i have those holes drilled in the cab i purchased and thought someone had drilled them as a provision for an adjustable brake valve or something.

That lever is a valve to switch to a second fuel tank.
Look on the bed you will see two fuel caps. That looks like a grooveeee truck man farout.
