The Chevelle clip rises in the front much higher than what the stock frame sat at. My core sits where it would if it was on the stock frame.
I don't think the Camaro clips rise as high as the Chevelle but may be higher than a stock frame.

That's the only way if you don't have a jig.

Re: 57 P/u 77 camaro core support issues

I did the same as Metal monkey and others. Put the cab on first then used the dog house to line things up. Everyones eye is slightly different so all of our measurments may not be exactly the same or even the same as the factory. When it looks right, it's good. I also used freeze plugs, tranny mount bushings and tubing for my mounts. Used the same plugs and bushings to fabricate front cab mounts which are a little higher that the stock which had a piece of rubber and a shim. My front bumper will be pinned for easy removal for jacks and maintenance so the bumper will plug in to the rectangular tube brackets I made. Did the same as MM, held the bumper on stands where I wanted it and started welding stuff.

Re: 57 P/u 77 camaro core support issues

I think this might help. It is a high resolution scan of the frame dimensions from the FAM. I have added hand notes over the years because a lot of the references are to the firewall line, I wanted to get them to a known point like the front cab mount center. It looks like the rad core support is just a little higher than the top of stock frame and cab mounts. Any minor differences could be taken up in the thickness of the rubber or metal shims.

I had to down size it to get it to load, if you want the original send me a message with an email address and I can send it. UPdate, I just saved the image below and opened it, you will need the orignal, compressing it to publish killed the resolution.

Re: 57 P/u 77 camaro core support issues

I decided to cut off the camaro frame horns and block off the ends with sheetmetal. I am working on "grafting" the original mounts & frame ends onto the camaro subframe. Pics to follow............
