Re: rally rims

I dont think it is odd^^, the tires are pretty close to the same OD and it makes it so the front tires are in line with the rears, ya know like if you drive through water on a parking lot? they kinda line up, if you had 60 series on the front also, you wouldnt have the same rake and also the front would stick out just a little more than the rear. At least that is how I see it.

Re: rally rims

Rally's are the only way to go! I like the Crager SS and Chromed Moons because like the Rally's,they're period correct and look good, but still only run a close second to the Rally's.

Re: rally rims

Haven't bought the 225's yet for the van rally's, but the rear wheels look like they are sunk inwards more than the fronts with these tires. When i put the 295 drag radials on the rear and the 225's up front with the 6.5" rally, will it look better? Or will the rear wheels look like they are further inside than the fronts still? I heard that when you convert to disc brakes, it pushes the front wheels more outward...

Re: rally rims

No, it will look fine with that combo. Do you have a 67-70 rearend or a 71-72 rearend?

Re: rally rims

Ok you will still look ok with the 6.5" van rims up front. The back spacing offset will still keep the front tires inward enough.

Re: rally rims

Thanks. Here's a couple pictures with the new 225/70/15's by firestone. It did make alot of difference on how the rims and tires look in the fender wells.. Now all i need is the drag radials on the rear. What do you guys think about the spinners on the front. Kind of looks like they stick out a little bit to far. But the more i look at them outside, the more i like them. I thought about trying to find a couple that weren't quite as tall as these..

Re: rally rims

Looks alot better. Gonna look sweet with the drag radials. I personall don't care for thespinners. I like the 88-98 center caps on these rallies.

Re: rally rims

Ok, i just bought some 295/65/r15 and had them put on a set of 15x8" rims and they are toooo tall imo... So i'm going to exchange them for a couple of 295/55/r15 drag radials.... I think they will look about perfect.. Give me a couple weeks to get some pictures...

Re: rally rims

Here's what i ended up with... 225/70/15's up front and 275/60/15's on back... 2.5" drop spindles, 4" springs on rear. I'm thinking about doing another 1" drop all the way around... What do you guys think?

Re: rally rims

I'd like to have seen a bit more meat in the back, but it still looks good. Another 1" all around would be Super!!

Re: rally rims

I tried to go bigger, but they looked out of place with 8" rims. If i had some 10" rims i would of went with a 295/55/r15. I think these look pretty good just for cruising and some car shows, then when i want to get serious i'll bolt on my hoosier 28/14.5/r15's which are mounted on my mickey thompson light weight rims....Of course, i'm kind of leaning away from the drag scene, and leaning more towards the car show scene.. Parts last alot longer!!! Don't get me wrong, i still want a 10sec. truck, just with airconditioning and power brakes and to be able to drive it anywhere..

Re: rally rims

Just thought I'd throw out the formula for everyone to calculate tire height for those who don't know it. I use this to compare tire sizes all the time.

First what the numbers mean: 255/70/15 = Tread width / Height ratio / Rim
Tread width in millimeters = 25.6mm per in, Height ratio is 1 side so you double it, + rim

(255/25.6) * .70*2 + 15 = 28.945313

This is easy on a cell phone calculator & easier to remember than you might think. 25.6 is the biggest number to just remember. Do that division, just mentally double the .7 to multiply by 1.4 then add the rim. Hope this helps some others.
