Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
You are doing an awesome job. What kind of motor mounts did you weld in? I'm putting in a 427 in my 57. I got a camaro clip out of a 79 camaro. Thanks for the updates and pictures.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
I used a set of stock mounts just located them up and forward for the big block. Your x-member is already drilled for them. If you look at post #12 pic #2 you will see the holes were they ended up. They are sitting in the small block holes in that pic.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Great work. I love the total concept and the ride heigth looks to be perfect. When you shortened the back of the truck it looks like it is already a short bed? If it was a shorty what are your plans for correcting the bed to fit the frame?

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
I still have 10" to tack onto the rear of the rails. Everything else will remain in the stock position....ish. Working out all those details tonight. Mount fenders etc. getting there.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
So the bed length will remain the same but the fenders are remounted about 10" forward from the original location?

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
The truck is a 3200. Which as far as I could figure out is a 124" wheel base truck. The original box would have been longer. So I have a short box and 2 extra short bed sides to work with. So..long truck shorthened 10" to accomidate the short box. Thats why I took the 10" out rails behind the cab. All these guys on the site have been such a great wealth of info. Read and learn, that's what Ive tried to do. Never built one of these era trucks and without this site I would be sooooo lost.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Its been a couple of weeks of fiddling around with body fitment, changing out my box sides, sorting my steeringetc. etc. etc. I did scoop some wheels for $100 and some front tires new for $30 each. Painted them as I wanted black wheels anyway and threw the rims on to see what they would look like. Rattle canned some gold to see what the finished truck will look like. As an aside, can anyone tell me what the black box sides on the truck are from? They are not 57, I know that. Just want to sell them but dont know what year they are. Hope all your builds are going well. Will get more progress pics soon.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Looks like a later model Chevy or GMC bed. I'm not sure of the exact range of years but a 1980 Chevy stepside would have fenders like that.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Thanks Russel I will go from there. Got a bunch of fiddly stuff done today. Added the 8ish Inches to the rear rails to pick up the last box mount. Yayy the rear chassis is done. Got my box sides sitting where they are supposed to and fenders mounted so I can mock up the rear bumper. I am taking the stock rear as well as the front bumper and flipping them upside down so they dissappear into the body. Will post pics of those later this week. Got the tires and wheels mounted, pretty happy for next to free. So she goes. One step at a time. Hope you all were in the shop today making progress.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Looking good.
I'm also going to be flipping my front bumper. IMHO it fits the truck much better. You are able to pull it in a lot tighter. Kim |

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
And if you flip the rear it gives you this great area to put your license plate. I promise pics to come this week.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Well some relationships just don't last like you thought they would. Pixie left the shop today, sold to a nieghbour. I did however get 2 41 Chevy's and a fist full of cash for her. So on to the next. Good luck and happy building to you all.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
So I know you all loved Pixie, but have you met Maggie yet ( the GF names them all) I have 2 of them to start with. This is the first that will pay for the second.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Hello,
Don't mean to barge in but I am trying to do the same mod. 57 3200 with a 75 nova sub frame. I want to make sure that I am doing the right thing and would like to confirm the correct place of frame surgery. I am trying to make mine look like yours, going by the pictures and my own measurements. Just to be sure and to validate my figures: Can you give me the distance from the body mount to the top of the frame, where the downward cut starts. Thank you very much for any help you can give me.
