Thumbs up Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

In 1957, Pontiac offered a similar factory color called Limefire Green. It actually became a very popular color to use on hot rods and customs in the late '50s/early '60s. So even though you're probably trying to be modern, your color still has roots in the past!

Dang, that does look close! I guess when I do the "satin black" that will really bring the old school look around.
There is quite a bit of 'pearl' in the green which they didn't have back then, so the 'flop' of the lime green is pretty cool to see in person.

Thanks for posting that pic. Nice Pontiac (actually, I love Pontiacs, I had a few TA's, and currently own a Bonneville GXP White Gold Tri-Coat...love it...too bad they are gone)

Actually, I have quite a few pics, especially from this month. Been a great month for moving along on my build. This week marks 6 months since I started the build. This week, I painted the cab, and today was a BIG step. I put the cab on the frame.

Just today, I sprayed all the black to end up as "Denim Black" (as Harley-Davidson calls it), which basically a very low gloss black basecoat/clearcoat.
I will get better pics soon, but very happy with the results. One thing you have to watch with spraying this is NOT to get ANY dirt in the paint. D
I can say it came out near perfect which is good considering that the roof is huge and this is a true basecoat/clearcoat satin black.
I'll post some good pics tomorrow of the black. I also posted some pics under the thread "what did you do to your C-10 today" (I think that was the title)

This was about 3:30 this afternoon.

You can see my "March" updates along with all my other monthly updates since the week I bought the truck late last year.
You can just click on the link in my sig to see from the week I bought the C-10

Thanks for the post and thanks for reading!

I went with the 69096 Hedman hedders.
Thanks to Chillwares pics of his build. Wanted to go with another header, but they ran into the crossmember using CPP perches. Didn't think I would like these, but they fit VERY good. I did have to trim about 1/16" on my left side of frame. Took about 5 minutes.

Here is a thread I started 4 months ago on the headers.

Thanks Pops and JimmyDean~!

Re: Painted my cab and fenders!!!!

was looking through the build pics on your website...that was a pretty dang nice truck to start with, but you have taken it to another level...great attention to detail; can't wait to see it all together!

just curious, not long ago i saw a '65 pro-street chassis on CL for sale in Largo...you wouldn't happen to know the guy (Matt) would you? my dad was possibly interested, but i don't see the ad anymore

Thanks appreciate it. I also saw that chassis. The guy had emailed me when I first started mine to see if I was interested. It was at $2500, then was lowered to $2000. Possibly it sold? I haven't see it either, so I'm not for sure on it. A great deal if someone got it for $2000
