Well at least you got a good deal on the truck, right?

I politely pointed out everything major that was wrong with my Jimmy before buying it last year and as a result took it away for a pretty good price. Not in a you don't know how to turn wrenches way, but in a wow I'll have lots of work in this rig way. I have a few grand and I don't know how many hours fixing all the PO's handy work. Still a long way from perfect but at least it's not dangerous anymore.

I love the torch but holy cow, cutting structural piece as opposed to sectioning an oil pan? Wow, talk about what not to do.

You probably already know this but if not, you can save the cross member by re-boxing it with some plate. Pic kind of looks like it's 3/16" but double check; I wouldn't go any lighter than what the rest of the cross member is made of. Bevel the edges and burn it good and it'll be stronger than stock.

Im still tryin to figure out why the PO of my 69 decided it would be cool to cut off the drip rails. its been raining on my legs all winter long.
The fuel door in the bed doesn't sound that bad though. Ive done that.

NO i got one way better Love Mexicans there the King ****** riggers I've seen more stuff come out of Mexico then any where else.If you ever buy a truck and the guy has put on a dress up kit on the truck Look further into the truck there hiding something

in my Case the guy broke off the rear metal brake line and did not replace it so when he sold it to me and i got down the street 2 blocks noticed the brake pedal spungey Got it home wow that was a crazy 2 miles looked under neath guy used a rubber fuel line hose with 2 clamps

well I'm not one to point But i've seen a lot of crazy and not so safe wire jobs in my trime working on there trucks.Some are well known Chevy guys and that is one major item you must get right

well well well... my cabs floor is 25% chicken wire, resin, duct tape over that... and today i just discovered that the PO must have cleared out his local stores of BONDO... to cover up an apparent birdshot blast to the rear bed panel... but i knew it was gonna be bad... for $700 when isnt it? Id list the electrical problems I had when I got the truc... but I think all my 4 letter words would be blocked.

Value in parts is what I was thinking when I bought it... I'm highly considering stripping everything off of it and finding a more sound body and frame. preferably a '67 next time so I don't have to smog it. Start from the ground up and do it right.

Why the hell would you need to cut the crossmember for the oil pan on a Ramjet 350???? That pan fits car chassis just fine but he could not get it in a truck chassis with a ton more clearance......YIKES! If the PO is that much of a hack I would look everything over VERY CLOSELY.

I definitely laughed out loud at this post.. Because you are so right!!! When i was in high school .. bondo, chicken wire, and jb weld were my best friends. but dangit i was the only 14yr old driving a cool car!!!
