O i know. All im saying is the more mods you do the better chance it will happen. Ive seen a few people on here shorten there frame and i wouldnt for a second hesitate buying it because of the way they did it.

What you are really saying is the '67-'72 pickup market is mainly driven by street rodders who can't afford a period "muscle car" anymore. They look to the 2 door shortbed 1/2 ton as an closest alternative to the pricey 2 door "muscle car". Its true, the market does not show a strong interest in a truck designed to haul cargo. But I really wonder if any of these buyers would have any interest in any model '67-'72 pickup, if period 2 door cars were more affordable and plentiful. Will longbed C-10's,C-20's and C 30's become indangered spieces in the future? What a boring world.

I didn't see where he said or implied that at all.

I see hot rod long beds also. You wait long beds will the the "choice" to have in the future again just like the old days.

What I am saying is that the 67-72 pickup market is driven by short beds. Every time I have sold one of these trucks, the first question out of EVERY caller's mouth: "It's a short bed, right?" Most folks looking to buy a 67-72 truck now see them as leisure vehicles. When they were "new" trucks they were seen as work vehicles. I have a newer LWB truck for hauling cargo (sheetrock, wood, etc)....I have a 72 SWB truck to haul beers, babes, and barbeques I probably won't own it forever, so when I go to sell it I know I will (1) Have an easier time selling it, and (2) get more money for it.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!

Funny how so many posts on here end up long vs. short "discussions"

I really like both but understand short beds are worth more than longbeds by the "market"

Rust free longbeds in cali mostly go for almost nothing....

...shortbeds are still selling for good money....

I've had both and will eventually have a Longbed daily driver....

...but when building a vehicle to sell it will be a shortbed...

Yes this Thread DID go way off Topic, but so far, everyonew seems to be "playing Nicley", so I came up with a Poll to accompany it.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!

I agree that shortbeds will sell for more as well, but I still wouldn't cut up an original longbed.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!

Its simple a originally swb will bring more money than a long wheel base. Were talking about a original lwb vs a lwb cut down to a swb. Im sure people like swb more because these trucks are rarely used for DD just fun crusers. The people that use these trucks as there daily drivers and for work a lwb will be more practical.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!

I am one of those guys who cut down a longbed to make a shortbed. I did it right, I didnt just cut and buttweld it like so many "shops" I have seen. I cut it then bought a bracing kit that consisted of a C-channel that fit inside the factory one that I welded around completely. I like longbeds too, I just prefer shortbeds.
