How'd you drop it, front and rear? Springs and spindles in front, and springs in the rear? Or springs all around?

I cant get over your stance and was looking at springs all around but im not sure what it would entail; relocating shocks, trimming bump stops, or any adjustments for that matter.

Also, what vendor did you get your springs from?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions.

Re: Going to be lowered Monday

Hi First66, I took the cheap route on the drop. The p.o. had installed brand new springs at all four corners and the truck sat really high. I cut almost 2 coils from the front and shaved the bump stops that bought it down 4.5" And in the rear I bought 1999 Jeep Wrangler coil springs off from e-bay for $ 35.00 and just simply slipped them in. They fit perfect and brought the rear down a full 4" I did'nt have to do any adjustments and the truck actually rides better now than it did before.

Re: Going to be lowered Monday

cutting the coils= taking and cutting at least one full turn of the coil spring.

1.5= 1 coil+ 1/2 of the next coil.

What you are doing is removing a coil and half of the next one. Alot will argue this is not safe and will ruin the spring and ride of vehicle but I've been lowering cars and trucks for years with this method. It's the cheap route. Dropped spindles and lowering springs are better but more expensive. All depends on how you will be using your truck. Don't cut them with a torch, I used die grinder with cutoff blade. Ok I'm sure I 've opened the flood gates!!

Re: Going to be lowered Monday

Hey Gloss55, whats up with using Jeep springs, whats the reasoning behind using those particular springs? Is it due to them being a good fit on the Chevy trucks? Is there any one certain specific Jeep spring to use on the fronts and rears? I really want to lower my 74 C10, but I have a different job and make less money now and money is really tight, so I am looking for the cheapest way possible to lower the truck, but still have a safe and decent ride. You say you put coil springs in the rear? I have leaf springs in the rear so how does that work? Did your truck have leafs as well?

I used the 99 Jeep Wrangler springs in the rear because they were $30.00 and they slipped in perfect and brought rear of truck down a full 4 inches. They are the only springs tapered to fit the spring pocket thats why you cannot cut the rears. My 65 came from factory with coils at all four corners. In your case you can remove a couple of leafs for your desired drop, thats what I did on an 86 Silverado it looked bad a$$ but I couldn't haul anything heavy

Re: Going to be lowered Monday

The 67-72 pedals look good in it. The interior is in excellant condition, is it original or was it repainted? Another great NC truck. Cant wait to see the pics of it dropped.

Why doesn't your front license plate match the rear? and why is it tucked under the rear bed sill? Has the rear bumper been tucked?

In MI we are not required to have 2 license plates so alot of people run novelty plates on the front. The front plate is 1965 North Carolina where the truck came from and the rear is 65 Michigan plate that is registered to it. As far as the plate being tucked under sill? That's the way it was when I bought it.
