Re: Little opinion help from the 50 plus crowd

Considering the head liner being a large area i agree with the "busy" comment on the diamonds, and i agree without the buttons also.

Yeah, I agreed with both of you guys on that one and the buttons. This isnt going to be a wall to wall crazy interior. Just looking for a little late 60's vibe.

In that case get some black lights and some black light posters and hang them up! Don't forget the peace and Love signs and the 8 track tape player.

Ok Ok, that's going too far I know.

I agree that roll & pleat is the earlier standard and true hot rod. I see diamond pleat as a custom touch that came in more towards the late 1/2 of the '60s. And,although early customs used the heck out of roll & pleat, for the early'70s street machine look I picture diamond pleat. When I said "Van-esque" I meant how they became the customs that were more about "plush" than "hot rod go fast". The interiors are big and need more "buzy" IMO. I see the panels as leaning towards custom more than hot rod, like big cars.

Re: Little opinion help from the 50 plus crowd

Do what you like best to your vehicle. If you constantly worry what everyone else likes you'll end up with something the most important person isn't happy with.....you..... I've always built what i like, and have always been happy. I feel opinions are like butts, everyone has one and they all stink.

Re: Little opinion help from the 50 plus crowd

No louvers, dont want to have all that extra clean up because of all the rain we have seeping through.

As far as building what makes me happy, thats exactly what I believe. BUTT (lol) when you are trying to build a "period" piece it helps to ask the guys that have been there.

I was only 10 in 69, so I can only go by my faded kid memory, and what I read in magazines.
