BTW I got those wheels from Summit Racing, for those who are curious. $90 a wheel + 20 apiece for center caps + chrome lugnuts.

Re: 3/4 tOn 8 lug wheels

I know it has dogdishes, and I do know were there is another set. These are 16x7's from a mid 90's ford 3/4 ton truck or van. (Joesjunk gave me the idea!)

Re: 3/4 tOn 8 lug wheels

which hubcap color was stock on a 72 c20? I have two of two colors: chrome hubcaps with yellow chevy emblem and white hubcabs with blue chevy emblem. Once I figure which were original Id like to hunt some down.
Thanks!

Re: 3/4 tOn 8 lug wheels

Whether they had white hubcaps or chrome depended on the trim level of the truck. White being lower trim level. My 72 GMC originally had white and it was a "custom" trim level.

I was told that the emblem on the hub cap should match the color of the emblem on the front grill or hood. I was also told that the gold emblem hub caps were used on late year 72s and contiued into 73. So, would also be period correct, but not matching the hood emblem. Here is a photo of mine.

Also where do you find the hubcaps, are they available as reasonably priced repros or do you have to restore a set of originals?

Keep an eye out on Ebay, they're always popping up here and there. I got extremely lucky with my set.

hubcaps.com carries the original 3/4 ton caps in painted version (all out of the shiny stuff...) That probably doesn't help, but what the hey! www.hubcaps.com

Re: 3/4 tOn 8 lug wheels

Great Thread,
Keep checking the parts board and they will show up. I enjoy the caps that need attention, because I enjoy restoring them. Sometimes I even experiment with new colors. Most of my caps go on my garage wall at the top. Here are some pictures of mine for you to enjoy helping you keep the faith because they will materialize for you. Make sure you look in the back of Chevy vans and truck beds and under vehicles at the junk yards, because allot of single caps hang out there. Also places like the Pomona swap meet, San Diego Big Three and other meets around Cali will have caps as well. Before you know it, you will have a couple different sets to enjoy on your truck. Have fun and enjoy the hunt. I am a Hub Cap Freak and strongly support the look for our trucks.

Re: 3/4 tOn 8 lug wheels

Here are some more for you. The last picture in my rolling rubber wheels that are 16 inch, 8 lug late 80's, early 90's Dodge rims that look and fit great on our trucks. They are plentyful and you can add modern day Chevy or GMC caps to them and give them a nice chrome or black look. Enjoy!

Sorry for the bad picture but i haven't made the old girl pose for awhile but here is what mine looks like with later model gmc wheels. The only downside is that you need wheel spacers.
