Sorry to hear about your luck. I didn't get to make the show either. I had a story about the same, but it was the hub on the trailor that broke. Good Ol' Country folk.

It is good to hear that still exists elsewhere too. I like to think in Georgia you can still find that, I'm originally from Atlanta and there it's kind of hit and miss. I was traveling through some of the outlying areas south of the city once late at night once and started having problems with the truck - trying to get help at a couple places wasn't exactly a pleasant experience, but I've had trouble other times and had folks offer help just like you did.

Re: The one thing I didn't touch in my build went boom!

Well, I pulled the cover today. Had my oil pan ready just to catch any oil. Didn't need it cuz nothing came out. Here are a few pics of what I found with a couple vids. The pinion doesn't mesh with the ring gear at all. Just kinda bumps against it. I ordered an Eaton posi unit, 4.11 gears and install kit from DTS. I hope to have it on the road by next weekend. I went with the higher gears to help turn them 20 inch wheels. With the 700r4 I should be ok. Not like it's a daily driver.

Some of what was laying in the bottom of the case

Re: The one thing I didn't touch in my build went boom!

I have 2 friends who,in their excitement for the first test drive, forgot to put oil in the rear end The 41 chevy sedan delivery only went a few miles before the 12 bolt rear locked up. The 48 ford pickup with a 9" rear end went a little further. costly mistake. I know this was not your problem as you said there was gear oil all over the place.

Re: The one thing I didn't touch in my build went boom!

It took longer than I expected but I finally got her running again Ended up rebuilding the entire differential. New axles, bearings, eaton posi, 4:11 gears and pinion yoke. Since the axles were coming off I decided to install the rear disk brakes. Sure feels good to have her running again!

Re: The one thing I didn't touch in my build went boom!

That's so cool of the people that helped you. Not to change subject, but I was heading south on I-25 into Albuquerque when the interstate starts backing up. After sitting in traffic for a while probably a good ten minutes I inched my way up to see why. There was a car smashed up and sitting right in the middle lane facing the wrong way..obviously hit the divider. I was looking at it for a minute until I snapped and realized there was someone inside still! I put on my hazards and got out right there. When I got up to the car the young lady was balling, lots of blood pouring out of her face, airbag deployed. I asked her if she'd called 911 which she didn't. I'm freaking blown away at this point that probably a thousand cars have steered around her and not one person had stopped. I called 911 and stayed with her until the cops showed up. I didn't move her or anything, I was more relieved to see her crying at least she was breathing. I was CPR certified but had never done it for real. I could only imagine how scared she must have felt sitting there for so long and nobody coming to help.
