Re: new truck with a taco hood
Hmm, I didn't notice a pin. I'll try wiggling it, and look for a pin.

Re: new truck with a taco hood
Oh, that. No, I don't have that. It's like the back edge of the hood is catching on the front lip of the cowl.

Re: new truck with a taco hood
Thanks!
Hey have you tried loosening the bolts to the hinges and sliding the hood forward to see if that solves the problem of it catching? |

Re: new truck with a taco hood
sounds like when he bent it back up it bowed down in the middle could you possibly try putting something there in the middle and putting some pressure on the hood and bend it back out or maybe try pushing it out by hand (sitting in the engine bay and forcing it back out)

Re: new truck with a taco hood
The pin in the pic out in the middle of the hood, and the bolts below the windshield on the cowl (the ones that dont do anything) all catch in holes in the hood in a crash to keep the hood out of the windshield. thats all they do. I do not know why some truck had the center bolt in the pic above, and some didnt.

Re: new truck with a taco hood
For what its worth, my 78 had a taco hood like that too. The PO fixed it with those LMC truck hood braces and lubed the hinges real good. Never had a problem with it.

Re: new truck with a taco hood
I haven't had a chance to loosen the bolts to the hood and slide it forward yet. It would catch a little on the cowl before I tried to bend it, but now it won't even open more than 8" or so.
