Re: Am I crazy?

I know the feeling I just bought a 70 swb 4x4 to fix up for my son about 1.5 months ago and now I have it a 69 lwb 2wheel for parts and just bought a short fleet side bed this week my wife is wondering why I need all the trucks and parts to make one good one and then I just pull out the LMC catalog and show her what the repop parts cost compaired to what the trucks I am bringin home cost and tell her when I have the best parts off of all the trucks to for the boys I can sell whats left to other car guys. (like that is going to happen I now catch myself looking for parts for the 69 to fix for myself)

Re: Am I crazy?

I'm a car guy.No not the kind that buys a new Beamer every two years because "It's a driving experience".I'm a real car guy,I got busted knuckles,oil/tranny fluid in my hair, old car parts as decorations on the garage wall.I take a Sat morning stroll, thru the junkyard. My "good" ride is over 10 years old to most people,my "good" ride is actually 40 something to real car guys.

So you're a golfer?I never did see the point in chasing a little white ball just to knock it into a gopher hole.I understand that like you understand my car hobby,"If I have to explain it,you wouldn't understand anyway"

Re: Am I crazy?

Another crazy here... I told the people I work with that I spent all Saturday cleaning up the truck and polishing chrome so we could take it to a cruise-in. They think it is all weird... "Who would want to sit around at a Burger King and look at a bunch of old cars?" Guess they would rather be holed up inside playing video games or watching reality TV or something.

Re: Am I crazy?

The reaction of people you work with has everything to do with where you work.

I have always worked at companies that "manufacture" equipment...
  • The shop gang, fabrication and welding especially, always seem to get it..
  • Engineer and Designers, the ones with mechanical aptitude, get it..
  • Other office personnel it's hit or miss with.
At least that's my experience.....

But I know how to shoot a gun, fish and fix a truck. I'm golden, right DDixon1000?

Yeah, I'm the same way as Lakeroadster. I work at an engine remanufacturing plant programming CNC machines. The machinists get it and anyone that does anything with the product do too, but the paper pushers and higher ups have no clue. In a place that builds engines all day. It's wild how certain people get risen to the top because they suck at their job.

Ive pulled up to a few places in my truck when i decided to drive it to work, one place didnt even really get a 2nd glance(mostly all women) the other place on the other hand was cool, there was a guy that asked me if that was my truck and i replied yes and told them the story of how i came to love old cars and trucks then they started to talk about what they had and loved.
