Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing....go ahead and make fun of my "paint skills"

Can I have a shop cut that off at the factory weld, rotate 1/2" and re-weld?

you're on the right track. since it's a 3/4 ton the housings should be a dime a dozen wether it's a D44 or a 10 bolt. You could definitely have a shop cut the knuckle off and have it rotated/re-welded but for the price of sourcing a junkyard core housing I'd lean towards that route. You're going to need the same tools to get the housing down to the point of cut/weld as you would to just swap the guts into another housing. You would need to check your gearset when installing in the "new" housing but that's simple if you read up on it. An no teasing an MS Paint pic if it gets the point across!
