Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

Seems like Robert @ www.fuelinjectionconnection.com had a harness that would control just a 4L80E. It used a TPS, and not sure what onter functions. Baumann Controls has a 4L80E controller also.

Here is the link to the page n Robert's site: http://www.fuelinjectionconnection.com/gpage.html

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

Tonight I picked up a 47RH transmission, adapter plate, flexplate, converter, starter, radiator, intercooler and all piping. Also ordered a NP205 divorced T-Case to go behind the 2wd trans. Now I need to get this thing stripped down and get to mock up so I can make some engine mounts!

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

Got the 205 case and resealed everything. Going to pick up a rust free cab and doors and another 4x4 chassis in July to build. I am going to use the axles and springs from this crew cab and sell the rest. Anyone need a crew cab?

Man, I'm trying hard to get rid of my burb. Nobody seems to want a 23 year old brick with no A/C, 12mpg, and almost bald tires for $4500. Go figure....

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

I bought a 96 3500 Cummins truck last weekend for a donor to my crew cab. It is a 215 horse P Pump truck with a NV4500 and 241HD T-CASE I believe. 104,000 miles too! Truck is mechanically perfect but the body is shot. Should have it home this weekend where it'll sit until I get ready to part it out. I am going to sell the NV4500 an t-case along with all the swap parts to a Cummins guy probably. They seem to bring big money. Either that or trade it for a nice set of 35-38s on 20s for the crew!

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

Just for sake of keeping track of what I'm doing. i sold the NV4500 and t-case today to a guy on thr Cummins forums to do a swap in his truck. Bought the entire truck for $1500 and sold the trans and t-case for $1800! Cant go wrong there!

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

Leaving in the morning to go to WV to pick up a rust free crew cab body and chassis. Also going to strip the cummins truck this weekend to get the donor engine out. Ordered a set of 6 inch lift Alcan springs designed to support the Cummins today as well. Truck has 35s on it now and I'm hoping with 6 inch lift and a little trimming 38s will be possible!

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

It is officially a SWB now! Had a mobile welding guy come out and stitch it up. He added a brace inside the chassis that was as tall as the chassis would allow and welded the heck out of that too. Just have to do some finish grinding and then the frame is going to get blasted. Just going with a paint this time for the chassis since it'll just be a decent driver!

Very nice work, and I'm glad to see you were able to locate some parts over in your neck of the woods! Shipping was crazy from here.

$200. Included the 1/4 inch 6x8 fishplate. I am fighting the urge to take the cab off and get it blasted and do a frame off now! I have issues.

Leave it on and get it drivable. I just did a cab swap on my Longhorn and I am ready to kick my own ass! I wanted the truck drivable by now.

Pics for Jonboy! The frame is going to get blasted and painted and then the cab is going to go to get media blasted and epoxy primed so I can start the paint and body work. I had a feeling this would happen!

I had a feeling it would, too. You can go ahead and tell your wife I said "you're welcome"!

You shouldn't be in too much trouble. It will be built, driven, and sold in a couple months anyhow.

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus

I bought the Cummins donor for this truck from the wife of my best friend who was recently killed. The Cummins will go in this truck and it WILL NOT go anywhere. He was the best friend anyone could ever ask for, I will always have a part of him in this truck. Because of that, I am more determined than ever to do this and do it right. He wouldnt have it any other way. Still wish I had a A518/205 combo! i think I am going to use a 47rh and a divorced 205
Might wind up using a 2wd 4l80e I have if it comes down to it.

That's a perfect reason for the build. It will look good on the streets when you get done next week, too.

Man, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. That really stinks. I still have that 518 setup but we'll have to find a company that won't charge us what you can ship a complete car for to get it to you.
