Re: 1968 Camper Special

Here is a similar base model '68 C-20 with white front end with silver wheels and caps. Common options on base models were am radios, power steering, power brakes, oil+ ammeter gauges, automatics, custom comfort option (full foam seats) side moldings and even chrome hubcaps.

Your welcome. Period photos provide a great reference. Unfortunately, not many pre '69 3/4 tons will be seen with their original 16" 2 piece clip type rims today even though the 16" tire size is very popular. This is know as the 2 piece wheel problem. I believe its worth the extra hassle and expense to deal with original 2 piece rims (truck tire shop only-tubes-liners-assembly charge) if authenticity is important to you. Just always remember to carry a spare tire in case of flat. There were also one piece sizes in '68 such as 17.5 and 16.5 (both clip type) but these wheels and tire sizes for them seem to get harder and harder to find.

Authenticity is only important to me since the truck I brought is so original and so mint and well documented. I think if I was missing alot of it and didnt have the documentation tyo back it up, I would go free style. but that isnt the case. trying to stay true to the factory blueprint. the period correct photos are something I have been looking for because they supply the best information.

So let me ask you think, is the 8 lug steel wheel with the center hub caps, not authentic to the C20 in 1968?

I don't know for sure but I doubt it from the catalog. Have you bought a bumper yet?
