Re: Converting to electric fans

I am remiss for not including the shroud/fan size problem to begin with, sorry about that everyone. That is essentially why I am looking to move to electric, as my fan is too big for the shroud, I know I need the shroud, and finding another fan has proved problematic. I have a mid 70's motor, not the original, and a junk yard correct year shroud, so I'm guessing the 1/2in or so difference in fan size can be attributed to the year. I'm not a stickler for stock appearances, so esthetically an electric fan would be fine. My truck is my daily driver and by no means a show vehicle. The jeep fan fix seems to be a good solution, cheap and readily available. Thanks for the help, guys. Oh, and Magma, I had no idea that lack of a shroud effected the clutch so much. I learn something new everyday.

Re: Converting to electric fans

foriamclever,

Don't worry, no big deal here on my end. I like to study/build electronic circuits. I mention this because over the years I've purchased books that explain electronics. The problem I've run into is that they assume more than a basic understanding of electronics which I once lacked. But I've found that a classroom text book is great at explaining not simply how something works, but why it works.

See if you can find a classroom shop manual for a high school level automotive class. I have one from my high school from the early 90s. Of course, the book was published in the early 70s! I got it complete with graffiti!
