Treasures in the tool box...
I finally got the tool box open. I had to pick the lock and I can't believe the hinges weren't rusted tight. The original owner must have lost the key and bought another jack. The nice black one was in the cab as well as one of the jack handles, the other stuff was in the tool box.

Re: I'm Really Stoked

Is it possible that the truck will be coming to the All Trk Nationals?
Seen those older styled unopened oil cans bring a decent coin at swapmeets.

Well Ron, it depends on whether I sell the White '67 or not. Maybe that one or the Green '67. Who knows...

Re: I'm Really Stoked

LockDoc that is just one beautiful truck. I love the color and you did a good job on the wax and buffing. That tailgate is just mint. I also love the bedwood color. These era trucks were before my time and I haven't seen many wood beds. Were all of the wood beds from the factory painted body color? I thought it was interesting the first time I saw pictures of a wood bed painted black from the factory. Your truck is the first time I have seen pictures of the wood painted body color.

Anyways, it looks like a great truck and thanks for posting pictures and updating us about your truck.

Well Leon, "cool beans" as my friend says. I don't know what he means by that but I think it's a good thing. Way cool truck. That buff up is a good start and some white paint on those rims will have it finished up real nice. I have to assume the camper was as nice as the truck. Does everything on it work? I spotted that dealer installed a/c unit.

Thanks Boog.

Yes, the camper was in excellent condition.

I need to check the bulb in the dome light and one back up light and see about getting the A/C charged. The radio doesn't seem to have power but I haven't had time to look into that yet. Everything else works. It has the door buttons for the interior lights which I like.

I still have a Pennzoil Racing Oil can I never got around to using...I mean, some old guy gave me. I even have a fancy yellow rubber coated spout. Must be a late-model design. My '70 Custom Camper/30 had a handy dandy little holder for the spout the original owner made and mounted on the firewall. I got a lot of "hey, what's that thing for"s on that. That's when I realized the oil can as we knew it was passing on to history, along with tin cans and toothbrushes that fit in the dang holders!

Those tool & stowage compartments are treasure chests. The one on my '71 I never opened until I was done with the truck. Most found rags, but there was a 4-way,a block of wood,a set of emergency reflectors, and a 3# hammer.

Re: I'm Really Stoked

Leon, the truck cleaned up very nice. It is a really good thing for the truck and the camper that the previous owners kept it inside. If not, these would be trash. My Longhorn bed was. Another thing Leon can attest to here is this scary factoid: That big ol' camper had 4 3/8" bolts securing it down. 3 through the wood floor and one that actually went through a steel cross brace and wood. I couldn't believe the bolts didn't pull through the wood and send that camper for a ride!

Hey LockDoc, Real nice rig! If you have a "Sam's Warehouse" discount place in your part of IOWA, I'd try them for your 16.5 tires. Around here in NC, Sam's has both 9.50s and 8.70s in 16.5! I hope this helps. Enjoy that truck.

Thanks for the tip Les. I would like to keep the 16.5's on it. We have two Sams Club stores we get close to on a regular basis.
