Re: How much to sell your truck

I could do the Obligitory $50K, but at this point in my Lefe, I don't think I would sell it.
Even though I've only had this Truck for 2 1/2 years, everything that I've had done to it, didn't come easy. Sacrafices had to be made, and Toys" sold to continue the effort.
I know what this Trucks been through, and whats been done to it.

When I had my 67 C-10, everything came TOO easy.
I'd take it into the Shop and say "Do It", and come back 3 weeks later with a GM Crate Engine, Custom Built Tranny, Electric cooling fans ect.

I didn't have my "Hands In The Pie", and watch it go through its stages, like I have with THIS Incarnation of "RATIKLE", and because its come harder,
I feel a lot more for it, and havent even BEGUN to enjoy it to its fullest potential.

"My Truck.....I think I'll Keep Her".

Re: How much to sell your truck

I'd take $1,500 because it's really bad on gas and I'm concerned about its environmental footprint! It also has a blind spot from the driver's seat to the right front fender that I deem unsafe.... not to mention the paint is really faded and the laminate is coming apart on the front windshield.

I would think $25,000 would get them to not ask anymore.
Even $5,000

I've probably spent 8K over the years but she started as a
partial truck from an auction. Running gear's nearly done
(after 14 years) and the bodies next.

She's my DD and my best buddy. Priceless.

Old Yeller isn't for sale at any price. PERIOD. I have too many memories tied up in him and no amount of money can replace that.

Re: How much to sell your truck

Well according to the DMV, when I thought I'd go ahead and get it licensed last year, the truck is "worth" $14,000 and the fees were going to be ~$800. I immediately offered to sell it to anyone for the fractional price of $5000. Needless to say I didn't get it licensed and nobody took me up on what I thought was a generous offer for a "$14,000" truck.

I paid $242 for the truck and wouldn't take less than $5000 for it as she sits.

Re: How much to sell your truck

I have only had mine for a few months so not nearly as attached as some of you guys. I had a guy ask me the other day though and I said $5k (1970 c10 swb with mildly built 454) Of course that was when I was walking back to it with a can of gas (gas gauge doesn't work and I didn't add right)

While I realize that this was not the intent of the original poster....This has the potential of becoming a "For Sale" ad for those who are not allowed to do that here. Please be aware of your responses.

That's pretty funny.....when I first saw the thread I was thinking "what a great way to find someone that is willing to sell their truck way less than what it's worth". Of course that is not the intent agreed.

Re: How much to sell your truck

Well ive had my truck 12+ yrs, and ive put 1000's of hours of my own blood and sweat and time into it, restoring it from the rust bucket it used to be when I bought it for $550. Now I dont think id take anything less than what its appraised at, which is $30K, and even then I may not sell it!

Re: How much to sell your truck

I've owned mine since 1996. That's a whopping 15 years. It was my first vehicle. I drove it to High School. I tore up my hometown roads with it. I learned how to "work on cars" with it. My dad helped me keep it running. I even drove it to College my senior year. My wife told me that before she ever even met me that some asshole in an old black truck with a Clemson flag on the whipper cut her off, little did she know that it was meant to be! It was part of my wedding. It's part of my life. How much would you sell your best friend for?

Very cool song that hits home...

Re: How much to sell your truck

None of mine are for sale at any price, just because someone offered to buy. If and when I decide to buy I'll set the price and list it. I'd have to have one I like more than mine to run and buy with money to spare. I never sell this way. I know what I have and money doesn't replace it. I don't see money when I look at my truck.

OK, I have to change my story here (post #6). I was driving the '39 Ford Coupe last week and I stopped at the local convenience store to get a Coke. This guy comes over to me as I am getting into the car and asks me what it is worth. I told him 27.5. We get to talking and he asks if I have any other cars. I said yes and told him what I had. He asks if any of them are for sale I said all of them except for the '36 Ford Coupe. He ends up following me home and falls in love with the White '67 Shortie. Long story short he came back today and paid me for it.... So that is two serious parking lot buyers in the last 45 years. The average is going up...
