Re: Once upon a time.......
The truth be told: I was out of town for 3 hours and recived the phone call! "Dad, your not gonna believe what happened!" I told my 17 yr old that he could drive the ole' boy to football practice, so with a heavy foot and a light rain he was able to perform a 360 and a light role. Thank God no one was hurt. But, he can't go anywhere without getting beat down about it. - a little justice...
Oh Yeah, I have everything to rebuild it. Good father/son project. And I have to say that I wiped two Camaros out back in the day - a 71 and 69. At this time, I think it hurts more, then back then...

Re: Once upon a time.......
David, I'm sorry to see your beautiful truck wrecked. Maybe you could build a disposable truck powered by a 6-250/3 on the tree for the next time your son needs transportation.

and I still drove it like I stole it.. and there isn't one person that didn't drive stupidly as a teen.. you'd think that teens are the onlyones that wreck.. how about tha dad that sent a new driver out with an overpowered vehicle with the handle'n issues that a pick up has.? |

Re: Once upon a time.......
I'm 56 now, and I still drive the 69 GMC that my dad bought when I was 17. I remember taking him to the Chevy dealer where he bought it. It was a couple of years old, but only had about 25,000 miles. He paid $1400 cash. ( which was a lot of money in 1971) I drove it when I was in high school, and I inherited it when dad passed on.
I let my son drive it to high school when he was 17, and he didn't abuse it, but put a couple of "idiot dents" in it. Someday, it will be his when I'm gone, and he can pass it on to his son after that. These old trucks are 100% American made "timeless classics" that will never go out of style.

She bought her's for $1300.00 because the Original Owner didn't have the funds to restore it. We had a local Paint Shop Soda Blast it, do all the Body Work, and painted it a beautiful Silver. Put new TA Radials on it, redid the Ralley Wheels, New Carpet, Door Sills, had the original AM/FM Radio rebuilt, New Speakers. We drove it around for about a year. Then my Wife and I discussed giving it to our Son who was 15 at the time. We bantered back-n-Forth about his level of Maturity, and he would have his License in about 10 Months. We were planning to take him out in that Car to learn how to drive a "Manual" Tranny. The Day came and BOTH my Wife and I were Beaming, cause we were so proud. We called our Son in, and told hime it was HIS if he wanted it. Without batting an eye....he turned to us and said....... "No Thanks....it's not a V-8". His vehicle for his 16th BD was a 71 Ford Pickup we bought for $400.00. We took the Camaro and sold it for $4200.00 and used that as a Down Payment on our next House we bought! Looking back, I would have thrown a set of Black SS Stripes on it, and a "Low Rear Spoiler" and called it done. That thing was sweet. Below is a picture of my 70 Camaro that my Son NEVER, got to drive (383 Stroker).
