Very nice, I'll be looking out for it at the local shows and meet and greets.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Wayne-

Nice work. I have a friend with a 48 5 window that is the same color and same size and style wheels. This one reminds me of my friends. Looks like another great project by Wayne....

Re: 1955 chevy short bed build..

I've noticed in at least two of your builds that you install a complete headliner. Is there a molded piece on the market that you use as a base or is each one custom made for the individual project? I am at the point of deciding how to do my headliner on my '58 and am struggling with ideas. I'm in Lake Havasu, AZ and heat on the roof is a definite concern for any material attached to the roof.

Re: 1955 chevy short bed build..

Sweet ride.

How did it sound with the exhaust exiting before the rear wheels (right under the steps)??

I was thinking about routing mine the same but I was concerned about the noice level in the cab.

Of course the mufflers will have a lot to do with the noise level.

Re: 1955 chevy short bed build..

Nice ride.
It looks like they notched the frame for the fuel filler neck, did they do any boxing around it. I know there are not going to be much stress on the frame back there.
Do you know what tank they used?
Sorry for the question, but one day mine might look half as good as this one.
You guys are doing a good job, thanks for posting.

It didn't sound that bad, the motor was a mild 327 SB and not built...

Thanks. I just finished installing the exhaust today. It is not to bad but definitely loud.

Of course I am using the Flowmaster 40 series (aka firecrackers in a steel garbage can). Add to it that I am running 420 hp sbc. In the future I may decide to finish running the exhaust out the back.

Steve, no there was no boxing plate put around the notch but it would be a bad idea.. the tank was home made by someone years ago and it was big.. with gas prices today it would cost over a $100 bucks to fill it..
Glad you ask if i can help let me know.. wayne

Re: 1955 chevy short bed build..

That truck is fine, and I'm wondering about the headliner also.

I wish I'd looked closely at this thread before I installed my Vintage Aire a/c. I followed their instructions but I like the way you ran the hoses through the firewall much better.

That is a really nice looking truck. Question.. the interior pic of the inside of the roof. Is that the stock metal being wrapped or are there chipboard pieces covered? Really like to see some more interior pics. i'm getting ready to plan mine out and am looking for ideas. Thanks

Wow, either I type really slowly or the roof question is a popular one.
