Re: dmv fee

i don't know, humidity under 10% year round and no rust ever might be worth an extra $100/year for plates...

(but then again I could get that in AZ or NM too...)

Re: dmv fee

My '65 C10 is $91 this year (up from $90 last year) and I have owned it since 1990.... you'd think that it would go down but not in the screwed up state.

I remember when it was $48 a year.

Take the engine out and have it reweighed!

Re: dmv fee

Here in Massachusetts the RMV (MassDOT)uses NADA to set it's vehicle value for sales tax.
They claim my 62' swb step w/dents faded paint & non original drivetrain is worth 10,200.
I just paid 715.28 for sales tax & title only.
Good news is so many residents are putting forward complaints about these false/inflated values that the Dept. of Revenue is using it's own source to set sales tax & superceed the RMV..so they're going to set my truck & 3,800. & send me a refund.
We pay these people to screw us.Ridiculous.

Re: dmv fee

When I got the '63 in '07, the tags were 78.00, just paid them for the year...223.00. My old Harley started out at 38.00yr. now its 138.00 ten years later. And where did the money go ? I think the roads got even worse?

Re: dmv fee

I'm glad I don't live in CA I thought Idaho was kinda high from what it was. But $90 for personal plats for 3yrs and $40 for year of mfg plates for 3yrs is not so bad. Regular fees are some where in between...Vernski

Re: dmv fee

the only thing in alabama that is cheap is for vintage vehicles, a permanent vintage license plate is a one time fee of $16.00 for the life of the vehicle and no titles are issued on 1974 and older vehicles.you need only a bill of sale.

Re: dmv fee

The newest Gov (Brown) raised the fees almost immediately after swearing in since he didn't need voter approval. Last I knew it was $45 to register a vehicle into your name from the previous owner (tags prices vary). Anything older than 1975 is smog exempt and yes, you just need a cover that you won't be taking off.

Re: dmv fee

Not truck related: It sometimes depends on what County you live in to how much get gouged. My wife and I had to get life scan fingerprinting so we could take in a foster child. My wife's cousin also did the same so they could take in the sister of our foster son. It cost them $10 each in Stanislaus County but it cost us $150 each in Contra Costa County. Go figure.

Back to subject: I didn't here that Jerry B raised the fees. Last I heard he was ticked because he couldn't get the continuation of the old higher fees on the ballot in time so the fees would go down. I guess he found a way around that.

Re: dmv fee

...they're all crooked....but yes, it does depend alot on the county you live in. I'm going to get a p.o. box in the county I work in since the county I live in is pretty expensive.

=Jurassic-1;4817043]AZ finally woke up you need only to have classic ins. and a historic vehicle plate. It cost me $115.00 for 5 years for my 70 C10 . If you have these no emmissions required. Thanks to all who helped make this pass.

Re: dmv fee

I have a '78 truck here in CA...I didn't pay much attention when I paid for my plates...but just by coincidence I happened to have the registration next to my beater daily driver '99 mazda protege, and the protege was $75 a year, and my '78 truck was 110...i was like WTF....then i noticed it says "COMMERCIAL" on my registration...i thought the same thing...how the hell is an occasional mattress set or BBQ grille in the back of my truck "commercial" most of the time the bed is empty except for my lunch box or some dirty gloves or something...Oh well 73F today and sunny

Right, 73 and sunny. Its going to be 104 here today. Electric/water/trash bill will be approx $600 this month. I guess I'd rather pay the higher vehicle tax.
