I would think so. Shouldn't be more than 1k lbs. It will squat it pretty good though....

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

cussed it mostly lol Lets see... some ill fitting aftermarket parts, a headliner that was used but great condition, untill a week or two after I get the trim up. and a missing drill bit set. And that all happens in the one afternoon Ive had this week to work on it. It will be a nice old cruiser one day, but for now its just a pos.

Where did you get those spinner caps?? Been trying to locate where I can get some.

Thanks,

Sorry, just saw this. I bought them a local auto accessory place called Massy's. They have lots of older school stuff like that. Best part is they bolt on through the center of the center cap.

I mocked my front clip up this week to see how she would look. I still expect the front end to drop another inch or so after fluids are added and the coils settle.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Cleaned up some more wiring and got the horns working again. It just amazes me what people will do. They butchered and reran who knows how many wires to get the horns to work and all they needed to do was put in a new horn relay

Pulled the tranny pan and changed filter and hopefully solved my leak issue. Let me tell your leaky tranny fluid, old red clay makes a reall mess of the underside.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Got my new fuel pump installed and got some new EVAP and FUEL hoses. The little push rod for the fuel pump made it a PITA to install, and for some reason the PO decided to use TRANSMISSION COOLER hoses for the fuel pump and charcoal canister.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

I pulled out the junk front springs that I just put in over the winter, they were supposed to be 4 inch lift but because they were so wimpy, the second spring didnt run the length of the main spring, so the main spring was bending from the weight of the big block. Looked awful! I put 4 inch blocks in the rear, so in addition to a pretty big, new looking rear spring pack the truck had a terrible looking rake to it. So I scored a set of brand new 6 inch HD springs, finally got them in yesterday. I was real worried the 6 inch would make the front higher than the rear, but the rear pack and the natural rake made it work out just right. It's a hair higher in the front right now, but I think the big block should make them settle a little after driving it. Pretty level overall, and the best part is now it looks like a lifted truck! Looking at it from the front you can see the whole front axle and the leaf springs under the bumper. I'm happy with it. Even seems to ride better. Still thinking about doing something different in the front for shocks, maybe duals.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Oh yeah, I also got the receiver hitch on finally, it was a nightmare with the scabbed on framerails at the back. It's nice and rugged now though, even have two extra metal bars running on the outside tying the hitch to the frame. 8 ton adjustable pintle hitch that I found in the back of my suburban when I bought it .
Also wired up my 1 ton tailgate marker lights so they work now. Love those lights!
Bought a cheap stereo because the one in it barely works, but I have no idea how to install it. I'm accustomed to the old fashioned kind like the truck came with, with the 2 rods that you hook on with nuts. Think I have to cut the dash for this one..

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Fixed the cable on the shift indicator, now it shows the gear properly. Also recently replaced the dash lights with the brighter #168 and painted the back side of the bezel white. I found that tip on this site and the results were awesome!

Thinking side mirrors next, anyone bought them from LMC?

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

I havent driven anything in a LONG time that flat wore me out. The cab bushings were so bad that the cab would shift on a turn, it ended up using 2qts of oil in 100 miles but also was trying to burn out all the old gas in the tank mixed with about 12gal of fresh premium, the rear springs so stiff that it was bone jarring. So I decided to sell it to a friend.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

I'm new to this forum, but not new to square trucks. I've always wanted to build a standard cab dually, so 12 years ago I found one with the body rusted and sagging over the frame. Now I'm to this point, time to repaint. I removed the chrome, I talked myself into cause I found the correct inserts for the dually fenders. Bad idea, so I'm repainting and taking care of a few usage dings. I'll post more details in the other forum. Thanks Ron

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

I finally got a full load of scrap metal to the yard and sold it. $$$ It was mostly in the bed of my extended cab project truck, but now that it's empty.... I hope to get started pulling the bed then the cab. Oh, not truck related; but I finally got my old 68 Camaro RS/SS back home. I sold it to a good friend 10 years ago, and bought it back. Now it's here to stay. David
