Re: NOS 1969 grill

Unless your truck is a show truck or rebuilt ... I would flip it and buy a repop. JMHO

Re: NOS 1969 grill

EDITED TO AVOID CONFUSION FOR THOSE LOOKING LATER

Many originals have the lines run all the way towards the lights where the NOS one doesn't. Maybe the factory made it both ways or two factories supplied these grilles? See my post below for pictures of the differences...

I've never seen a correct NOS and this one isn't either even though it was sold back in 92 according to the label. To me it makes grilles like 68 iron's worth good money (original grilles without damage) since if you want a 100% correct grille you can't find it repop or NOS...it has to be an original...
What makes you think that the nos one doesn't? It is painted black over the bars so you don't see the bars. The only reason you see 68 Iron's is because of the loss of paint

You are correct. 68 Iron's would look the same as the NOS if painted. I actually misspoke....there has been much debate over these...my 70 has the lines running all the way till they basically touch the bezels...not stop like 68 Iron's. At first glance I thought his continued.

Here's some pics of the different grilles
The one that looks like what's on my 70 with lines all the way to the bezels

vs the NOS one pictured like this one...

Re: NOS 1969 grill

The better news for you is the 69 grille is NOT reproduced...what is actually reproduced is a 70 grille that's painted to look like a 69. The 70 has raised portions that were silver with the recessed portion painted black. All repops have this raised portion....the recessed area just needs to be painted black to make it into a 70....

I thought the other way originally but this board set me straight But as you can see...I still get confused on the subject
