Re: Sad Days Coming

I told my son that i would build a truck with him. But I told him he can never sell it. He has to give it back to me and get his own. He is only 8 right now so we have time.
Where dose your son live here in the Bay Area? I am pretty much smack dab in the middle of SF.

Tell your son I have to agree with him and if your son ever wants to get rid of his truck then make sure you show him this post.
My older son lives in San Rafeal, I restored a 1969 Long Fleet with him and at least he still has it.

Re: Sad Days Coming

I just watched the guy drive it away and he was really happy. He told me that it was great not being disapointed by a lot of promices and no delivery. I will say I had to take a couple of deep breaths when I saw it leave. A lot of memories drove away but I guess I will always have them. He got in it and is going to drive it clear back to the bay area. I figure he is going to give it a 13 hour test drive. I pray it serves him like it served me. It never left me stranded on the side of the road.

If/when I have kids, and if I give them a vehicle the stipulation with that will be that when the time comes that they want to sell it they offer to sell it back to me first.
I had a GF once ask me if I would ever sell my Chevelle......or was it Chevelles, GS350, GTO, oh well I digress, if she asked me too. I told her that was a simple answer, if I sell what I loved that she would have give up something she loved as much.......conversation was over about that right there. Why should be as guys we have to give up a passion for a woman and that is viewed as acceptable? If my girlfriend/wife came to me with a real serious problem that required the selling of cars for money to fix it (i.e. a medical problem) then the cars would be for sale. If I ever heard the threat of "it is the cars or me!"...........my come back would be "good, now more time to play with the cars!" or "the cars keep me sane, so you want me to go insane on your a$$"

Adopt you? Couldn't he just give you a wad of cash and call it quit's? So much easier on everyone.

Its kinda funny, it feels like someone died, I walk into the shop and im used to seeing a red glow from the other side of the shop but I guess its time to move on to the 67 ShortFleet and then on to my projects.

No I didn't, I wasn't thinking about much of anything else besides it leaving.

I guess I could call him and tell him about the website.

Re: Sad Days Coming

I just talked to the guy that bought it and it made it with very minor issues. I guess the Bearings in the Diff were howling a little but he said it drove like a champ and he is completely happy with it. He made it from my house to the Bay Area in 11 hours. Not to bad for a 46 year old truck.
