Thanks, I loved that car, she is the reason I decided to bag the 57, just couldn't drive it anywhere without dragging the pan.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Well I got the bag mounted, took a lot of trial and error but 'm pleased how it turned out, the crossmember being the lowest point I set it up so there should be 1.5" when aired out completely, I have a 3" cup tapered to 2.5" on the bottom(plus 1/4" plate) and a 2" cup on top (plus 1/4" plate). the taper straightened out the bind the bag got into when fully compressed. I will do the same for the other side and then hook up some air to them.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
The Ghia had a 1776cc engine, w/dual Dellortos, it was a blast to drive, I built a 3" narrowed adjustable beam in front, adjustable springplates in back, disc brakes all around. It sold to a guy in Stockholm Sweden, it had a perfect nose and he said he couldn't find a non wrecked Ghia in Europe, imagine that?

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Thanks so much, I have learned a lot reading this forum, even when you have the years behind you that I do building bikes and cars it helps speed things along with less mistakes when you can see someone else's work and how they accomplished something. I only hope my work can help someone else also.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Well I got the drivers side finished and almost done w/ the pass.side, still need to mount the air tank, I'm using 1/2" SS braided hose I'l probably need to use some sort of air volume reducer to have good control of the speed, Tank will be under the cab floor just inside of the step area. I plan on valves being mounted at the tank, anyone see any reason not to mount them there?

The S10 Blazer (or any) 4wd S10 rear is about 4 inches wider than a 2wd. The 98-up Blazer comes with disc brakes already. That is what I am running on mine.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
That is so cool there are Idahoans on here, I am following your thread as well, love the red and black! Well I got both air bags installed and set her down, but mis-judged my aired out height about 1-1/2" or so, I wanted her to sit 1-2" off the ground at the cross member but it just sits on the floor, so I'll have to make taller cups.(but Damn she looks cool layed out!) Also got the harness a bit closr to what I need, sill waiting on a TAC module to get here so I can figure out where to mount it and modify the harness for it. Also have the gas tank in place but not bolted down ,still working out the mounting.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Looks great! That is the beauty of air ride, if you want it 2 inches off the ground you just bump the switch! I say leave it, so you can lay it out when parked.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Hanging fenders so I can fit the inner fenders and finish the core support mounting, I don't like the ball joint angles, especially the uppers, of course this pic is aired out but even when I bring her up to ride height the angles are a bit sharp, haven't seen any special ball joints like I bought for my Karmann Ghia that allow more travel and avoid binding the joint, anyone know of any available? may need to look into some aftermarket arms?? or maybe modify the ends myself.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Looks good, is that a 22 gallon tank? What are type of pump you going to use to send the fuel to the motor? I'm using a stock pump in the bucket with some mods to the tank.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Thanks so much, yea I like the idea of setting her on the ground,I guess I just don't know if I trust the bags enough to risk having it drop to the ground while driving.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
It's an 18 gal. tank, I plan on using a Walbro or similar type pump in the tank and making my own mount set up like "Tanks inc." sells.

Re: The beginning, my 57 LS powered streetrod
Thanks so much, great idea, i'll have to do some research on the height of the stock pump set up to see if it would fit.

These guys sell a tall ball joint that may help cure some of your ills.
