Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
here is over 300 photos of the white one I just picked up. Like I mentioned earlier it has more rust and body issues than my orange one. I do like the fact that all the paperwork, receipts, and equipment match (except the newer engine). Tell me what you think.

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
I would not recommend trying to part out the truck. In today's time shipping costs and the economy are not woth it IMHO. I tried it on a couple of trucks and will not do it again in the future.

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
I know that you can make good money parting...in my recent part outs I have generated 3 times the amount I would have been able to sell the truck/suburban for complete. I would preface this with, be realistic in pricing to part out and selling complete...la la land breeds disappointment.

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
I can't give away a standard bore 402 complete long block for $300. Afew years ago it would have sold for a minimum of $500 all day long.

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
Heck if you were closer, I would buy the 'barn yard' find in a second! My Suburban is nothing but a 1967 Midwest typical rust bucket! I would just use the body and transplant it to my 4x4 frame.
Okay, dream is over. ![]() Good luck.

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
The guy I bought my orange one from told me he wanted $X amount for it and the reason he said "was because if you sell it for $2000, some one gets it, and does nothing with it. Then they sell it for $1500 and they do nothing with it and sell it for $1000. So on and so on until it works its way to the savage yard."
A person willing to spend a little bit a money on something is more willing to put something into it. Wether thats some love, money, or simply drive it. Thats the reason I spent what I spent on it... $3500. |

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
awesome score X 2
it would be a crime to part out either....just don't do it. the orange and white one deserves an owner that will treasure her just like you do. seems everyone parts out or chops/mods the best candidates for restoration and only the rust buckets survive to tell the tale of the good old days ![]() |

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
the other possibility......you DO live in Oregon......no salt spray. sell that late model ford and keep both burbs!
my truck doesn't go out and play in the snow, but she will be a work horse and not just a car show trailer queen. installed Hawk severe duty (carbon fiber and ceramic) brake pads on the front tonight and repacked the wheel bearings with royal purple grease. a few more things and she will be towing trailers with the best of them! |

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
Hey I take offense! I only spent a 1000 bucks on my burb and I do all that I can to keep her running good and road worthy! I know alot of guys buy 1000 dollar or less specials and don't do anything with them or they just want to turn around and sell on here for double profit. I also know alot guys don't have the means or the money to do frame up resto's so 1000 specials are the way to go. I personally think that you should not part these land yachts out. it would a be a mistake and theres plenty of good dudes on here that would kill to own one of those! I know cause I looked long and hard for a burb.

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
I am not a huge fan of the part outs of nice Suburban's, but they are a huge truck and take huge budgets and time to restore.
But for those guys like me, if there were none being parted I would have a harder time getting non reproduced parts. Every Suburban I see get cut up, it just makes mine that much more scarce. Especially if it is a 1968 K20... ![]()

Re: Major '72 Burban Delima
Well thankfully I found a buyer for the burb. I'm not parting it out and it sounds like it is going to a good home in Mexico. The same guy that bought this burb also bought my nos gm grille. Knowing that he bought my grille tells me he is going to put some time and love into this optioned out classic.
