Re: Ez wiring harness
I have the E-Z harness, not real problems except being stupid as to the ways of wiring, takes me twice as long to do it as most. Being anal also has its drawbacks.

Re: Ez wiring harness
One very important point to remember when shopping by price only - look for what actually comes in the kit.
Some include switches, pigtails, connectors, relays, etc. And some don't, and that is a huge difference. My advise to those that don't do a lot of wiring or never have- buy the most complete kit you can. You'll end up spending about the same amount of money buying the small parts to make a complete new installation. |

Re: Ez wiring harness
I have used the EZ kit 3 times and the AAW one time.
Both have their merits, but for ease of install, completeness and instructions, I would go with AAW.

Re: Ez wiring harness
IMO, AAW or Painless. I've used painless once and it's great. Working on finishing up my 2nd painless one now. AAW is nice though, just a preference. Look at completeness of harnesses, instructions- if you need them, and upgrade options- if you want them. Anyway you cut it, it takes lots of time. I'm just anal about it also.

Re: Ez wiring harness
I too used an EZ Harness and would like to change to LED Tail lights, has anyone done this? About 5 years back I bought a set of LED Tail Lights for my 1960 GMC They are made by United Pacific.
Anyone have any experience with using and EZ harness with LED? Thanks Jake

Re: Ez wiring harness
Thanks, I read the small instruction manual that came with the flasher unit and it says to install a fuse, does the circuit panel fuse serve ok? I'm trying to use Untied Pacific Tail lights.

Re: Ez wiring harness
I haven't installed any additional fuses, but I did have some issue recently that my ignition would come on, but the starter wouldn't engage.
So I ran a by-pass with a starter button and now it works. But I haven't found the problem yet, all fuses are ok, so I have a broken wire somewhere...

Re: Ez wiring harness
I'm by far no wire expert. I did my 1965 3/4 ton back in 1994 with M&H factory re-pop harness paid 750.00 that was everything. When I had the fire inside the cab I wanted a harness all I wanted to do it plug and play system. When I drove it before I put the harness in I did not have high beams no horn and the light use to flicker at night. After the harness went in and went to the HEI hook up's truck ran better and everything worked even the horn. I'm not one to trust me being out in the middle of nowhere and have a short. Plus I want a daily driver. No issues for 24 years so far No wire issues. Fires up every time.

Re: Ez wiring harness
I put an EZ kit in my 53, it had 2 flashers, one flasher was + and -, one was typical single pole, had to get a special flasher and it drove me crazy getting it to work. Never again.

Re: Ez wiring harness
I used Speedway's 22 circuit kit. Good instructions and comes with extras like light switch, dimmer switch and flashers. I had extra circuits but just wrapped them up and fastened them up under the dash for possible future use. There's a good description of the kit on their website.
It was my first time doing a full rewire. It's not bad if you divide it up in it's different sections and do one at a time. |
