Have you picked a replacement company for the carpet?

Beautiful truck!!! Love the stance and everything about it.
What was the backspacing that you used on your wheels for the front and back? |

Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
Trim Parts. I used their stuff on my old 72 & was pleased with the fit & quality.
Measuring the backspacing is on my to-do list... I may try to get to that today.... I will post it up as soon as I get it. |

Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
Backspacing appears to be 20x8.5 with 4 3/4" BS front & 20x10 with 5" BS in rear.

Did some detail painting on the rear calipers & rotors today while the wheels where off to measure backspacing...
Shot of the front suspension while I had the wheels off... Last edited by JWall; 10-02-2011 at 04:21 PM. |

Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
Great pics!
You need a set of shock relocators on the rear. Those shocks are really laying down. I'm sure it would imporve the ride greatly. (a Super Track Bar from ECE would be nice also) Beautiful truck!

Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
Awesome truck!...... and it's got my color on it.
I just received my tires (same as yours...badass!) last Friday along with some Boss 338's that I'm sending back. I'm just gonna bite the bullet now and order the Coy's I should have ordered to begin with and have a question. The front fitment on yours looks great but your rear tire looks awefully close to the bedside, how much room is there between the inside of the rear tire and the bed floor? In other words do you think you'd have been better off with 5.5" backspacing in the rear? |

Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
Thanks for measuring! I noticed that you stated that if you orderd your wheels again, you would opt for more backspacing. Do you have any rubbing issues right now? If your rear tucked a bit would they rub or have any issues you think?

Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
I dont have any rubbing issues but the truck bottoms out before they can rub when aired out.
I think if I went lower I would run into some rubbing issues. I have thought that an ECE super trac bar might help a little because the rear end does shift to the drivers side when air out making it closer on that side and their trac bar is supposed to help with this issue. Re: 1972 Black Cheyenne Super Big Block - JWall
Do you have any details on the engine and transmission? How's the clearance between the brake booster and the valve cover? Did the steering shaft have to be altered at all?
I'm going to put a big block in my 72 Blazer and I would like to not fight it anymore than necessary. That's a VERY clean and nice looking truck! |
