Re: new to the site need some help
imo a 283 is only good if you plan on making a stroker but thats me. 327 is my fav. motor but i went with a 350 on my current project with 1.94 heads. intake, edlebrock performer would do (using a victor jr. myself). like mentioned above a 500 edlebrock/carter carb would do as well. cam, one thing to consider on those is vacuum, imo it often gets overlooked when people get larger cams, they're often looking for h/l end torq and a radical lope. larger often gives less vacuum, if going power brakes it should be considered. a RV cam should do, mild lope and some torq. i use a highflow holley mech fuel pump and a highflow oil pump as well.
Here is a page with some info on gear ratio posting pics, use a hosting page like photobucket (many others but i forget) and use the url given when uploaded. there is a way to upload pics on here and post but i haven't tried that. my 2cents :/ |

I believe you will need a v8 sized radiator. The IL6 is small.

Re: new to the site need some help
well its just that the cam effects the engine vacuum. the more radical the less vacuum due to the wide lobe separation (the wider the rougher the idle) effecting all vacuum parts like trans, dist, brakes etc if not enough is generated. its something to be aware of. and if youre running power brakes then you will have a vacuum line from either the back of your carb or from your intake (whichever works best, i usually start with the carb) going to your booster.

Re: new to the site need some help
ok. so i have just the inline 6 in it now, when i go to install my power brakes i will run a vacuum hose from booster to the carb? also have you ever done the disc/power brake install. is it pretty straight forward? i got the brake kit just waiting on power kit to get here Monday. do i need to go get an inlinement done afterwards since im putting new tie rods in? by the way your truck looks pretty gnarly in that pick.

Re: new to the site need some help
If that is your truck you posted above, then it doesn't have stock wheels on it now. Are you planning on putting stock wheels on it? If not, the rally wheels you are running might work with the discs.
