Re: 1973-87(91) Analog Gauges coming

Cool, thanks for sharing. It seems to me people would rather retain more of a factory look, yet have the functionality of these gauges. I personally never really liked the "out of place futuristic" look of any of their gauges. That being said.. I think I could handle the brushed with red.

I myself thought the exact same thing.....man they need to do these black with orange needles. I think the carbon fiber look has run it's coarse, not to mention I don't know if it really suits these trucks. That being said I do think they are the best looking aftermarket gauges I have seen for these trucks. If I am reading this right these light up blue correct?

Black with orange would be pretty awesome! Have late model, retro gauges. Man. I want a set real bad!

I understand what a lot of you are saying. There should be an option three, something that delivers the all the benefits of the cost of the upgrade but has some stock looking font/color gauges. I'd be all over that myself.

Good grief. Those would be awesome for my truck and go with my retro theme but they cost more than I have in the entire truck!

Thanks N2TRUX must have missed that wish it was part of it and not optional lol, and I'm not sure how it compares to redoing a setup with autometer etc for price but it looks 100x better they sit like factory at an angle and they come in blue perfect for me :-p except my truck barely does 55 and it won't ever see 100 let alone 160 but I can dream

Re: 1973-87(91) Analog Gauges coming

I will be using these on my rebuild for sure. I am maybe less than a year out for my interior. You guys post up some finish product when you get chance. That would be awesome!

I am going to be running vintage air gen iv and dakota digital is making a digital climate control for those as well. I would be interested in seeing those. If not maybe I will be the first to run it and post some pictures in our era of trucks.

Wow, those are cool! I would like the silver with red for my truck.

I'm using vintage air also so if they they are making some kind of matching control panel as someone mentioned above that would be awesome.

They are actually not the same. I guess they don't make one for my suburban.

Re: 1973-87(91) Analog Gauges coming

For some reason I didn't get notification on all these responses. There will only be 2 offerings as far as colors and lights go.

BTW, the set that I recieved was one of the first initial 10. That I placed in July. These are still on Pre-Order. They are targeted to be ready for shipment in approximately 8 weeks. All orders placed at this time for the 73-87's are Pre-Order status. Dakotal moved the original date from 4 weeks to 8 -10 due to them making changes to the initial 10, which is why mine was delayed.

The 60-63 and the 64-66 Chevrolet's are in production ready to order. I guess I should make a post there, but forgot..

The 67-72's got pushed back hence me not making a post on them yet.

Right on. thanx. It might be worth the wait if they are planning on doing something in the future. These gauges really take it to another level.

The 60-63 and the 64-66 that I was refering to above being in production are the Chevrolet models as in you can buy them right now.

Currently they don't make anything for the 60-66 GMC trucks, analog or digital. It would have to be a custom piece most like due to low demand.

How does the wiring tie into this? Any pics of the harness or details on what is involved? (i.e. Cut-n-Splice or Plug-n-Play etc.) Thanks.

Re: 1973-87(91) Analog Gauges coming

There is nothing different between the way the Digital vs Analog ties into the existing wiring. You have to remove the factory plug and junction it down into the Dakota control box.

This is the instructions with more pics for the system:
VHX-73C-PU Installation instructions
This is the wiring instruction:
VFD3X- Rev G Wiring instructions

That one is growing on me. I have a new silver bezel that I haven't installed that would look good over that.
