Re: After 15 years, it's MINE!!! My 1949 GMC
Well, I managed to get things rolling a little bit tonight. Spent all day today getting small projects done and got things cleaned up and moved around in the shop. Had a friend come over and help me jump the s-10 and get it moved into the shop to begin tear down. I already had the front clip sold off it so tear down was quick. Got the bed and both doors off before we called it quits. I'm hoping that now its in the shop I can get things moving on this project. Been waiting too long to get started on this one but with a new one in the family priorities tend to change, lol. It's not much but we all know how we like pics. Hopefully some pics of actual progress to come.
And you might be wondering what all the wood on the wall is for. As a side hobby, I collect old pallets from work and build pallet funriture out of them. Here's a few pics of some things I've built. Might as well give you something worth looking at even if its not a vehicle, lol. Adirondack Chairs Porch Swing Bench seat

Re: After 15 years, it's MINE!!! My 1949 GMC
Got more work done on the S-10 tonight. Called up a buddy and we disconnected all the wiring to the engine and managed to get the cab off the frame. Looks like I have a lot of cleaning ahead of me. Now is the point where I'm thinking, "I hope I can get this thing back together again." Next step is to pull the motor and tranny this weekend and take the frame to the car wash for a good washing. What have some of ya'll done with cleaning the frame up? I don't really want to sandblast it because of how bad my sandblaster sucks but I can't leave it looking like it does. Anyways, on to more pics. Hopefully soon I'll be getting the cab and frontend ready for fitment.

Re: After 15 years, it's MINE!!! My 1949 GMC
Call around to the local powder coaters and have them blast the frame then paint it with Duplicolor self etching primer, do your build them paint the frame.
OR Do the build the send it out for blast and powder coating. I had my 57 chassis blasted by the powder coater $150 then I primed and painted it in prep for the build. 2 cases of Duplicolor. I sent my trailer chassis to the powder coater and had them blast and powder coat it. $250 Last edited by G&R's57GMC; 08-15-2012 at 10:21 PM. |
