MEH??.. whatever works man. I'm personally gonna use an 87-91 burban/blazer tank in my truck. Camaro tanks are too small for my needs and they do look kinda funny sticking out on the bottom. But I've seen guys make them look great.

I took these pics with camera angle from the ground. My truck isn't lowered, so I don't think it would be as noticeable on a lowered truck. Mine is a driver so it doesn't bother me if its noticeable from this angle.

Do the fuel gauges work on the blazer/burn tanks with the '72 gauge?

So what fuel pump do you then run on the 87-91 tank for the ls motor? Does it end up being an in tank walbro?

An in tank walbro 255 is the best option for stock power applications if you already have the 87-91 tank and sending unit. The pumps are cheap and easy to find on most any street corner.

Thanks for the info. I have to tell you I'm a little confused. I checked the dimensions of the tank. It seams too big for spot under the suburban in the stock location. Am I wrong? I hope it does fit, it would save me a lot of money!

I have a 25 gal 87-91 style blazer tank under my 72 K5 but it was there when I got the blazer. It looks like the PO removed one minor cross brace to make it fit. I do not know if the larger 32 gallon blazer/sub tank will fit, I have never looked into it. So to answer your question, it might not fit as is, you might have to remove one minor cross member. Maybe others can chime in with more details...

I was going to use the 87 efi tank for my swap, but since I would've had to relocate the rear cross member I changed my mind. Not sure if it would fit without modifications in a suburban, but it seems like it should since it has a longer wheel base than the blazer. I also looked into the Northwest Metal Products tank, nwmp and its 37 gallons and a direct fit. A little bigger than I wanted and after having them put a larger hole in the tank for a pump, the price was around $730. I would still need the pump. I just purchased the 23 gal tank that fuelcellguy makes. Its a direct fit and with mounting hardware and the in tank pump it came out to $625. If you want a budget tank use the stock tank and put your own pump in it. There are a few threads on here that cover that install.

is there a difference in a reg tank as to an efi tank..or is it just the pump,,i am planning on using my stock blazer tank,,even though its plastic, i think i can still make it work with my 01 yukon fuel pump,,i just have to cut a big whole in the top and drop the pump down 4 inches,,but it should work as long as i seal it really well

I have a brand new stock tank I was going to do the same thing with, but decided to go with an aluminum tank with the pump already installed. The main reason I'm not using the stock tank is because the fuel cell is baffled and the pump will come installed. Not to mention it looks really clean. The tank is also a little bigger than the stock tank. I know all that may not justify the $600 bill for the fuel cell, but I think it will be a nice addition.

this is what i did with mine,,it aint the prettiest, but you wont see that anyway,,im happy with it,plus i can run the fuel pump from the donor truck

you will need to get some " seal all " its the only sealant that i could find that is gas and oil resistant

Ok guys, next question. What's can I get a ring conversion kit to change a factory steel blazer tank? I saw vaporworx and retrofuel, but they seem to sell the kits with fuel pumps that are just too short for the stock tank. I can get a new steel blazer tank from the truck and car shop in orange ca for 155. Reuse my sending unit. I've got a fuel pump from an '05 truck, which is deep enough to go in the stock tank. If I could get the ring set I could weld it on the new tank pretty easily.
Also, on a side note, does anyone know which fuel pump module has a built In Regulator that is deeper than 10"? The escalade fuel pump module has one, but it varies the voltage to the fuel pump to achieve desired pressure. That's going to end up being alot of work to make happen. I know some guys are running modified camaro pumps with the internal regulator modified, but they are only 10" deep. I'd like to go as stock as possible so that I can buy an over the counter replacement if I ever need one.

Have you tried talking to Carl from Vaporworx? He may be able to build you a tray that will lower the pump so that it is closer to the tank floor? I have used a 07 silverado fuel pump that is taller in the past until I switched to a Rick's tank with the Vaporworx. The silverado pump iirc is 14" tall and can be compressed to 11".
