Re: ls turbo build
The reason why the Lq4 is boost friendly is the lower compression ratio to the LQ9.

Re: ls turbo build
LY6 is similar...at 9.65:1 vs 9.4:1 for LQ4...tho it also has the genIV rectangular port heads and VVT.

Re: ls turbo build
can you tell me what size turbo you are running? Also, with the fuel injection did you have to have the accelerator pedal from the donor vehichle? Which engine is it? thanks

Re: ls turbo build
motor looks sweet with that car intake and painted that color with the GMPP valve covers.

Re: ls turbo build

Re: ls turbo build
haha those ebay turbos are actually intriguing. Some of the older ones actually had epoxy holding them together, but seems it was only a certain run. Most of them now are just knock offs of proven designs, usually with slightly poorer materials or tolerances. That being said, over on the turboforums, people are going FAST on them. Junkyard motors + ebay turbo running 11's all day ain't bad. Let us know how his setup works.

Re: ls turbo build
600 hp = short life for a stock 4L60E. I am curious if the #60's will be maxing out if you are close to 600 rwhp. Are those manifolds off a Vette, G8 or? Very nice build.

Re: ls turbo build
Here we go, just sold the big block and trans. 1st thing is that i'm going to have everything under the hood painted the ketchme kopper by house of kolor to match the truck, then i'm going to rewire everything with a new painless wiring kit.... I also found a ls motor out of a chevy truck complete with harness and everything for $450. I'll give him a call tomorrow to find out how many miles are on the engine and everything. Then i'll send it to an engine builder to change the rod bolts, head studs, cam and gaskets. I'll start posting pictures, you guys wish me luck!!!

Re: ls turbo build
The ls motor that i was looking at already sold. So i'm still looking. What year did the lq4 ls motor come out of? Or is the lq4 mean it's a 5.3? I bought a used procharger intercooler good for 1100+hp and a procharger blow off valve. Both cost me $600... And for the trans, i was planning on building a 4l80e, but the cost was going to be over $3000 complete with converter to handle over 1000hp. So i decided to go back to the old reliable turbo 400 with reverse pattern and a transbrake... Here's a couple of pictures of the bov and intercooler...

Re: ls turbo build
LQ4 is the "low" compression 6.0. LQ9 is the high comp 6.0. LM7 and later the LY5 is the 5.3.

Re: ls turbo build
The 5.3 is.... a 323 in terms of CI if I'm correct but called a 325/327, the 5.7 is 347 and the 6.0 is 364 CI the 6.0 having the 4.00in bore is nice because they have really nice stock heads like the l92 head swap. As far as lq4/9s are only 6.0s and the lq9 if I'm correct has slightly thicker connecting rods and obviously pistons as well check my sig for the ls primer link it tells everything and one last thing I think the gen IV engines started in... 06? Using different rectangular port heads instead of cathedral which means not interchangeable and vvt and few other things making those heads cost possible a little more along with cam although vvt can be eliminated although some of this is already mentioned, TSP 427 6.0 stroker kit would be nice also :-p
