Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
Planning on putting a lift and bigger tires at all? Truck looks way better with the rallies and BFG's on it. Coming along nicely.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
when i get the chance to do a frame off restoration i would like to go to a 33 inch tire. i don't know if a new set of springs will be enough to make them fit. if not probably do an add a leaf in the rear and ord zero rate in the front. if that wont work then i will have to step up the 2.5 inch lift kit.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
got to do a little work on the truck this weekend. nothing picture worth but progress. First i cut some old exhaust brackets off that weren't being used. cut ugly looking tail pipe off and put an old echo tip on it hidden under the truck. sounds a little louder now but not much. Next i took the dash apart and got the last nut on the dash pad( the pain in the a$$ one behind the head light switch). then i proceeded to scrape old gear oil and dirt off my transmission and transfer case for about an hour and a half. Probably got close to a cubic foot of stuff off of them. guess thats what 40 years of leaking does lol. the bad thing is that they are still nasty. Last i washed the truck for the first time since i got.
Next TODO list lol -Change all Fluids -New windshield -Radio -New shocks -New bumbers -New Exhaust

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
thanks. ya i missed it saturday night lol. we got a big rain on friday. first big rain we have got in a long while. So i just had to go play in the mud. I regret it now but i took my 01 down a mile long mud road a couple times and got it completely covered. So i spent about 30 minutes washing it on sunday at home. now i need to take it to town and wash it with soap cause it still looks terrible. but it was fun at the time. So while the power washer was i out i sprayed down the 72. But it sure would have been nice to have had the flat bed to drive. I never had to worry about tearing it up haha it was already beat up and wore out. I highly doubt i ever mud my black one on purposethough. it drives way to nice to tear up in the mud. the only reason i drive my 01 over it most days is because of gas mileage

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
i got a question about my clutch....in my red and white truck. once the clutch pedal was depressed about 3/4 of the way it seemed to cam over and get easier to hold down. like when waiting at stop lights and such. but in my black truck it never gets easier or what i would think to call camming over... is there any way of making it do this by adjustment or something? or am i out of luck?
i hate the stiff pedal. when i press it. it pushes my back way up into the back of the seat and its not comfortable at all

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
You might check the linkage rods for worn ends causing them to bind. Also, try greasing the z bar on the frame. It could be stiff too causing it to be hard to push.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
If they've been replaced in the past they could be too heavy of a spring, but I'd try to make sure it isn't a wear issue first.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
thanks by the way
thanks i dont think they have been replaced. while i was messing around this weekend i got under the truck and had my brother work the pedal and we came to the conclusion that something in side the truck is making a dragging sound so hopefully this weekend i can get that figured out and finish buffing it.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
I have been driving the ol girl to school this week. Last night on my way home from class my dash lights quit working but my head lights and gauges still work fine. i tried spinning the knob back and forth several times with no luck. Did my switch go bad or what?

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
i found and fixed the problem....a fuse was burnt out. turns out the only lights that were working were the head lights lol. anyways put a new fuse in and it burned out again. so got to looking for a short and found a spot where the exhaust had melted a wire and it was grounding out. so shes up and going again. put over 200 miles on it this week. i just really wish i could afford to drive it every day of the year. well i could lol but then i'd have no money to work on it

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
So i finally started some more work on the truck last weekend. I have been trying to decide what i wanted to do for a rear bumper and hitch. i have not found a factory bumper that i like that wasnt beat up. i liked the look of the sport bumpers but my truck is no show truck and wanted something tough. So here is what i came up with. 6 feet of 2x6x.25 rec. tubing and my old bumper brackets got me to this point.
i then ordered a receiver hitch that bolts to the bottom of the bumper from harbor freight which i will weld on. im also planning on angling the bottom corners up to make it a little less boxey. then i will have it powder coated. an another note here is one of my latest projects 85 honda atc 70

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
Great work on the bumper! Those little 3 wheelers are getting harder to find! We had a 185s that was all jacked up when I was a young'n. My Dad always said the only way we could ride it was if we could start it our self. I remember flying over the wheelie bars a few times when it pulled the rop out of my hands. That thing was bad azz, especially for a 10yr old.

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
Thanks
I haven't got any more work done on the bumper but i washed the ol girl up and took the tool box out last week some more pics On another note i bought new the window felt kit from LMC a few months back and everything seemed to be pretty good quality. needless to say it wasnt. As soon as the truck started seeing sunlight the drivers side inside window felt started putting tar on my window as it was rolled up and down. i cleaned it off a few times thinking it would stop but no luck. i think i will try some where else next time although that was the only one that did it. here are a few pics of that

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
That bumper turned out better than i thought. Nice and clean fit too. Looking forward to the finished product.
The parts coming far lmc do not seem to be of good quality. Makes me have second thoughts wether or not to order stuff from them. |

Re: 1972 K10 Project "Daily Driver"
I got my window felts from "classic Chevy truck parts of America" Classicparts.com. I put them on 3 months ago when it was 100+ with no probs. If I were you I would call LMC and let them know what's going on. They should help you out. Classicparts.com seems to have much better prices. Good luck. That a beautiful truck
