Re: 1991 ss350

Nice truck man, mine is an original sport 350 and came with big mirrors like those.

Was there a difference in the sport350 and the SS350? I dont think there is but maybe someone here knows.

Re: 1991 ss350

You'll get used to the sport mirros. I have them on my truck and it took about 3 days to get used to em.

Re: 1991 ss350

Im warming up to them . I dont drive it everyday so it may take a while .

Got the heads for the motor build back from the machine shop and the rotating assembly is at the balancer . Block has been rough machined and is ready for final washing before torque plate hone . Looks like i'll be assembling it in about 2 weeks . Going tommorow and pick up the shim kit to swap in the posi unit . Probably going to swap in the S-10 7004r torque converter as it would move the stall up to about 1800-2200 and not really effect driveabilty . The truck has 3.08 gears , so i have actually been thinking about a gear swap to something like 3.42 for just a little more pep .

You may have said it before, but what's the plan for the new motor?

Basically a LT1 motor from a 94 Z28 balanced and stuffed into a Vortec block . 204/208 .450/.460 hydraulic roller , double roller , SRP froged 2 relief flat top pistons ( over kill but i had them ) . World products torquer s/r heads with vortec 1.94/1.50 valves and good springs to match cam . S-10 torque converter which is a touch looser and 30 spline clutch type posi unit . Just a good solid motor GM could have made .

Yes im staying TBI due to emissions testing that is still manditory for 3 more years on the truck . Plus i want to get decent mileage out of it . Wife and i are looking at houses and that will be adding more of a drive and my powerstroke drinks expensive fuel . Oh , 3.08 rear gears

Probably port match the intake to the gaskets and buy the Ported tbi base plate kit . I am still on the fence about headers at this point . definately wanting a nice "rumble so i'll probably change mufflers down the road .

Yea , it's 2 & 4 with spindles in front and front spring hangers and shakles in the rear . This has been doing daily duty for a while , so the motor swap is on hold . My daughter over the Christmas break got into a wreck in her car ( she's ok ) and they didnt finish it up in time for her to go back to school so i sent her in my wifes Pathfinder . She backed out of a parking spot after a truck passed her and missed the cattle trailer he was hauling tearing the back off her mom's car . So i had to put it in the shop . Other than a fuel pump burning up it is in service .
