Just curious how does it do on mpg with the th400 and the 3.08 gears. I'm wondering how it compares to a 700r4 setup or 4l80e with 3.73 gears behind a big block. BTW that color scheme has always been my favorite that's a beautiful truck....

I have to be honest I don't drive the truck alot and when I do it is fairly hard. I would say it got about 10 or 12 mpg with a 454 / turbo 400 / 3:08 gears. The motor is not that wild it is about 200 to 250 hp (1977 454 w/RV cam for 87 octane).

Yea right now with the 502 and 700r4 with 3.73's I'm getting about 14-15 mostly highway with my tall tires. I'm about to yank the 700r4 and install a 4l80e the 700r4 sucks imop...
